If you're in the middle of closing, and the papers don't seem right - backing out is very expensive. You'll need another month to get a new loan, you'll possibly lose a few thousand dollars of your deposit, you likely will lose the house. There's a lot of pressure on closing day - it all must be right, and any flaw can really be very expensive. How this happened - who knows - obviously the borrower was not careful enough, not good enough about getting the details right - but that does not justify racial discrimination and screwing with her loan.

Simple thing - if this is something black people need to worry about and white people do not - that is wrong. Even if it is also the borrowers fault. Should white borrowers have it easier than black borrowers just for the color of their skin?

[Here's the thing: as a slick salesman trying to earn a buck, I woulda jacked anyone, regardless of color. The blacks were already at a disadvantage, ripe for the taking. ]

arthur224 - I happen to work for a company with a black CEO and he is highly respected! I also live in a very nice neighborhood with several black families. So why don't you stop generalizing!

[If everyone would also read all the way to the bottom . The NAACP said:"Tighe estimated that "tens of thousands" of blacks had been forced into bad loans, but said it was difficult to gauge the scope of the problem because banks keep much of their internal data private. "

Te NAACP does not have one Iota of proof this has occured and admitted it in the above sentence. ]

so scope means they have no idea of anything? i don't think so ... it means they don't know how far reaching it is ... as in how many have been discriminated against.

so you are siding with the subprime lenders? do you also have a special place in your heart for all the investment houses whe engineered a legal scam w/ cdos and cdss? all while ignoring the clear reality of the existance of racism in our society?

whatever you say ... that must be the way it went down.

everyone in the money business is ethical ... and all the blacks are stupid morons ... according to you.

We now hold Obama and Holder not to be coward about talking race. They should be responsible for reducing the highest black populations in prisons. Obama and Holder should force the blacks to learn work hard ethics and not take welfare. They should reduce the highest crime rate and violence by blacks. Because they have no incentive to work because of welfare dependence their boredom leads to murders, rape, robbery, gang killings, drug killings. They have the highest single mothers with the highest illegitimate children by different fathers because they get more welfare money for more children without fathers. These should be the priorities and both Holder and Obama are too coward to even talk about it which also caused the subprime loans housing crisis, facilitated by Barney Franks and Chris Dodd by forcing and intimidating Fannie Mae ,Freddy Mac and the banks to lend mortgage loans to undeserving people . Obama's Acorn [where Obama was once an instructor and lawyer] helped intimidate banks to lend mortgage loans so that these people can have houses they can't afford. The ball is now in Holder's and Obama's court. They should prove to the nation that they are not cowards and will be able to accomplace this simple job.

What a CROCK! NOBODY is FORCED into a bad loan! Was a gun held to their head to make them sign on the dotted line?

And when bank after bank does the same illegal racial profiling and offers the same type of bad loan or no loan at all...what then? Pay rent the rest of your life? Anyone who tries to say that this isn't the case in virtually all parts of American society is simply unwilling to look around and be honest about what they see.

Look at the population ratios in general society versus prison ratios. Look at the ratio of CEOs that are white vs. the general population. And on and on - any well-paying professional position has a disproportionate concentration of whites. Any menial low-paying job has a disproportionate concentration of non-whites. To try and deny this reality that is apparent all around us is to try to live in a world that simply does not exist.

Oh and by the way, I'm white and I have been employed in good positions for many years. Unlike many, that doesn't make me blind simply because the system favors me. I spent many years in the San Diego area where one of the most-often enforced offenses in a good neighborhood is "Driving While Black" or "Driving While Hispanic". (Coronado and LaJolla were the worst but not the only ones...any neighborhood with nice houses was plagued by this.)

[See lady you had a bunch of choices but you worked for the NAACP nad you was looking for a free ride and a reason to sue someone. ]
[Posted by obiden08 at 2:09 PM : Mar 13, 2009 ]

she also has the choice to allow them to practice illegal behavior ... and sue them for it afterward.

the bank also has a choice ... do business according to the law! if you choose to ignore the law ... and discriminate against people in the operation of your business ... be prepared to be sued for those practices.
