pushing blacks into subprime loans and not pushing whites into them ... with all else being the same ... is discrimination based on race ... and it's illegal.

NAACP is a joke, much like Jackson and Sharpton. It is these types of outdated organizations and people that thrive on racial tension. As if the banks held a gun to their heads and forced them to sign. As if blacks haven't the brains to see a bad deal. The NAACP should be ashamed of themselves for insinuating that blacks are stupid. And that is exactly what they are saying. Shame on them and shame on any black still using their color for an excuse for all that is wrong in their lives.

if the criteria used to qualify someone for a loan was race ... it's illegal ... and those that did it should be held liable for their actions.

the behaviour doesn't change until the price for the bad behaviour exceeds the gains gotten by breaking the law.

there are no morals or ethics anymore ... only the principles 'can i get away with it' ... and 'how much can i make/lose by doing that'

Since when do blacks "choose to segregate themselves in high crime areas?" Are you volunteering to rescue some African-American urban residents by welcoming them to your neighborhood? With a burning cross perhaps? I know that's an unfair stereotype but I thought that might be the only way to communicate on your level.

Maybe if they didn't have to pay twice your interest rate they could afford to build a nice home right next to your broken down trailer with the broken down Chevy up on bricks( as long as were going for stereotypes).

Are you talking to me? 25 years ago I lost a house when the economy collapsed because of some changes the government made.

I didn't whine and go running to mommy government like you all are doing/expecting. The town I lived in had 12% unemployment and 12% of the houses were vacant. I then became much wiser about my choices and moved, bought a new house that's paid for now. In other words I learned to live within my means, plan for the worst and take care of myself.

That's the lesson these people need to learn, not the call for mommy every time the going gets tough.

Had we not bailed out the banks 25 years ago we probably wouldn?t be in this mess.

BTW those who know me know that I'm about half native American and no one has discriminated against me and I live in a predominantly white neighborhood. I chose not to segregate myself.

So the loaners are too stupid to figure out that they can't afford that house with no job.
The banks are too immoral to bother to do a background check.
Now that the banks know that they will get bailed out, there is no reason for them to stop such irresponsible lending practices.

All the while, John and Mary Public, who have been keeping a job and faithfully paying their mortgage payments are going to have to carry both of these deadbeats on their back as well.
It's time we got a government that actually represents the commonfolk instead of paying lip service. CHANGE, my eye!

Let's fix our own house before we go global. Once we end poverty here, we can help those other folks. If we keep bringing in poverty level workers, the po' folks already here will never be able to get a decent job or education to get themselves out of poverty.
