the whole issue..THE VERY PURPOSE OF demanding g@y marriage is lost..

I had read that the main purpose is NOT really for the ceremony BUT more on gaining rights and benefits that comes along with marriage. THAT CAN BE ATTAINED easily without any opposition IF YOU KEEP THE HOLY ROLLERS out of the equation..

rallyA: I don''t know what the government is doing licensing marriage. domestic partnerships, sure, but not marriage. marriage is a church thing. if a particular church wants to "bless" it through a ceremony (or not), that is their business. and, regarding my rights, they are the same as yours because i am straight, and i assume you are too

wagolf: normally, when a right is restricted due to a birth defect, it would seem that it beacuse the person, by reason of mental defect, cannot make a rational choice...cannot legally entering into contract, for example. how is this analogous to homosexuality? and, by the way, thank you for the civility of your post. sometimes, it is lacking in forums

While some Americans have a great deal of compassion for people with birth defects, disabilities; we by law restrict some of their rights.
The same is true of homosexuals.
They have a sexual defect or disability and by law we restrict some of their rights.
Society has a right and a responsibility to limit the rights of those with birth defects. Hopefully some day we can find a cure for this birth defect and all other birth defects.

This is a simple statement of reality without emotion, no fear, no hate.
While there is a great deal of emotion attached to the desires of some; it does not change the facts.

There should not be any hate associated with this fact
nor should the fantasy world of religion dictate the actions of humans.

A birth defect is a birth defect, and that fact cannot be wished away or rationalized away.
People with birth defects should be treated humanely but restricted in the area of society where their defects affect their abilities.

OKAY folks, One more time, let me walk you through it. PERVERSION and MENTAL DISORDER. Got it?

The same could be said for religious fanaticism. But, that is a choice. Do you feel that orientation is a choice? If so, when did you make your choice?

i agree with czymeat in that this is not a normal practice, in the sense that the majority of the population is not homosexual. on the other hand, left handedness is not normal, either. i don''t think orientation is a choice.

I do not care what 2 adults and I mean 2 adults of legal age do in some back room if they both agree but if you think for 2 seconds I approve or think the state should sanction it your mistaken. Anyone that is smart enough to practice personal hygene knows this behavior is not normal or mankind would be over. A piece of paper issued by the state won''t make it right. I''m so sick of the weak the perverted telling me whats right.

What seems to be going through much of this discussion is the idea that orientation is a choice. For those who feel that way, at what age did you make your choice?

Hes just being a good **** activist robot saying what he''s told to say. Thinking and truth are strongly discouraged. Activists fear people finding out what their motives are really about.

Is that the best dialogue you can come up with? "Bigot"? Surely there are worse names you can call me than that. Well, if thats the best you can do, Ok! But really, I thought that there were some ''thinkers'' on here. guess not.

ToolMangler: Do homosexuals wanting marriage "defile" your marriage vows any more than the heterosexuals (including myself) have already done? What seems to run through the argument about this is the idea that orientation is a choice. Do you feel it is? If so, when did you make your choice?

If these people wish protection under the law, then let them form a ''Corporation'' with by-laws to cover any circumstance. Just don''t defile my marriage vows by claiming what they are doing is the same. If they wish this lifestyle they are welcome to it. Just don''t equate it with a ''real'' marriage between a Man and a Woman.

azirine: i am not talking about the homosexuality (or perversity, as you call it) being a right. i am only talking about the same rights married couples have in terms of filing jointly, asset transfers, hospital visiting rights, etc. if a kid is in a foster home and micah and mitch show up to adopt you, are they not legally able to say "hell no"?

So perverts are demanding goverment endorse their sick behavior? Does anyone know that the vote to repeal homosexuality as a mental disorder was not unamious? A huge number of members of the APA did not agree, but were bullied by militant gay **** activists. The same ones who are bullying schools into teaching your children this sick perversion. They still are, and have always been, mentally disordered induviduals.

azirine: how far below? i read your comment that immediately preceded mine. and, i agree that that happy horse$hit about stuff like "Johnny has two dads" is nonsense. The comments about tax deductions for dependent gerbils was just dumb, as were those about the petroleum credit and the electricity credit. i agree that it isn''t normal, at least to me it isn''t. but rights are not dependent upon normalcy, are they?
