- That''''s shortsighted. Cell phones can save lives. Unless you plan on being with your kid 24 hours a day, seven days a week, being able to communicate with your kids is vital. Also, kids need to learn some self-reliance and not be monitored like inmates. Because those kids are eventually going to move away from home and that''''s too late to start learning how to "fend for themselves".

We survived without cell phones when I was a kid. Of course, we did not have computers, internet or cable TV either. It did not adversly affect my ability to fend for myself. Your arguement is nonsense rafter. - Reply to this comment

Excellent point. If I remember correctly, the big push for people to get their kids cell phones was after 9/11. School here that had forbidden cell phones decided kids could have them in case of emergency, but they had to be kept in backpacks or bookbags, turned off. - Reply to this comment
