President-Elect Expected To Order Shut Down Of U.S. Military Prison In First Week On The Job
- If these guys at Gitmo are so damned dangerous, then why can''t we put them on trial? That whole thing just doesn''t smell right.

So, you think that he will continue the Bush policies, and you consider this a shame, but you don''t consider Bush to be the originator of that shame?

Reading is fundamental, I have posted the exact portions of the international convention on human rights, and the relevant clauses of the Geneva convention that Bush has violated, you must have missed it.
As for the constitution, you are welcome to show where torture is legalized by the constitution, if you cannot, then you are simply spewing more nonsense drivel to justify having been suckered by the Bush lies. - Reply to this comment

Belief does not hold up in court, without proof then you are a supporter of exactly the type of thuggery of which you accused Saddam, murder, torture, and other crimes against humanity committed without proof of your beliefs.
Public records not only show that Saddam was a sworn enemy of Al Qaweda, but they also show that Al Qaeda is a database of arms smugglers, assassins, and drug runners, created, trained, armed and funded by the CIA to be the US proxy in the Russian-Afghanistan conflict. - Reply to this comment

- The main difference being if these so-called "terrorists" captured you, it would most likely be because you were in their land causing harm. Since Iraq was not involved in 9/11, and therefore did not attack us, your rationale for kidnapping and torturing them is?

One point you should know, I supported ousting Saddam during the First Gulf War. That belief never wavered based on whose in Office. Bill Clinton layed out the groundwork for why Saddam should go and that lasted his entire time in office. No, I never believed Saddam was responsible for 9/11, but I do believe that his mentality is the same as Al Qaeda and we didn''t need evidence to know that Saddam was "the" WMD. - Reply to this comment

- CHANGE WE CAN BELEIVE IN
It seems Obama is getting cold feet and just putting out a bunch of Rhetoric. He admitted this weekend that there are extremely dangerous people in custody and he really doesn''t know what to do with them. Once agein, it appears to be just another shallow campaign promise. He is no different and offers no change. Bet you less than half of his campaign promises will be kept.

Well like all the rest, this one has run out of logic, and so tries to squirm an irrelevant attempt at insult. You still have not shown how these victims are guilty of anything. - Reply to this comment

Remedial reading might be in order for you, because in most cases that is exactly what they did, the press is replete with the incidents where college students were dragged out of bed, neighbors sold the husband of a female they wanted to "get with'' and many other such incidents, and in other cases people were sold for a $3K bounty.
Murat Kurnaz for example, was known not to have links to terrorists, was never charged, and US officials even knew he was innocent. Imprisoned and tortured for five years, he is only one example of the majority of people the US kidnapped. - Reply to this comment
- You didn''''t answer the question, would you submit to torture if someone suggested that doing so might save American lives?

Our military personnel have submitted to "water boarding" as part of their training. A Fox correspondent volunteered to be "water boarded" as a demonstration for the public. Excellent point, but it does beg the question if there is proof that there are "terrorists" there, why has the evidence not been presented in court by now? - Reply to this comment

- People are saying that everyone in gitmo is a terrorist, and they deserve whatever they get. This is despite they were never charged with a single crime. Many of the people in gitmo were just put in there on word of mouth and even sold to the US. Take Murat Kurnaz as a prime example. Did nothing, was never charged, and officials even knew he was innocent. Imprisoned and tortured for five years. That place is a disgrace. Don''t get me wrong, I am sure there are die hard terrorists in gitmo, but those arent the ones we would release anyways. Give them due process, then kill them, release them, jail em indefinently, w/e. But give them a trial.
