A few thoughts to ponder...

1. a gun
2. a badge
3. a uniform

does NOT equate to ''OUSTANDING PILLAR OF THE COMMUNITY''

Drew Peterson Bolingbrook Illinois police officer is a well know police officer with a gun, a badge, a uniform a murderer hardly my idea of an "oustanding pillar of the community" merely because they guy wears a badge.

Stacy Peterson, DEAD wife, Drew collected insurance policy.

Christina Raines, DEAD wife, Drew collected insurance policy.

Kathleen Savio%u2019s, DEAD wife, Drew collected insurance policy...et al., next up...

White cops have a reputation of just being that dumb..

"There were racial slurs made by other officers to the group that Oscar Grant was with, but I have no evidence that this particular officer directed racial slurs toward Oscar Grant," Burris said.

This sounds like a "clathrate-type" statement, sort of like "it looks, walks like, quacks like, has waterproof feathers like, and swims like a duck, so it cannot possibly be a duck".

It is obvious you haven''t seen the video, or even heard the reports, thee is no moment that he victim, the only one of the foru who wasn''t cuffed, was resisting the plice, all four were sitting against the wall, and Mr. Grant puts his hands up, palms forward, the universal sign of surrender. He is then pulled from a sitting position placed on his stomach, one officer pressing his neck, a second straddling his lower torso, the third officer then pulls his gun and shoots the victim, who was obviously not a threat.

Your statement that the victim was a "thug", resisting the police is directly contradicted by not only a direct video recording, but also the fact that the victim was not accused or convicted of "thuggery".

Your position suggests that your so-called "work" with at risk kids consists solely of putting them "at risk".

To all the folks that believe that this is acceptable today, why don''t you place your son or your daughter in the same situation, handcuffed and down for whatever reason, and then shot. I understand that a peace officer must first control the situation, absolutely understand this fact, but to shoot someone when they are cuffed, come on, this is not the type of person that we need not want behind a badge.

clathrate if this was your *** child that this evil act was done to you wouldn''t be making such a evil statement. God will get those *** for doing this whether he was a thug or not grown people who are suppose to be civilized find theirselves in circumstances that are unavoidable, you still don''t have the right to kill them. You are so ignorant with the statement but evil is evil so if the shoe fit where it....

Having viewed the video several times, I can say without any hesitation that the officer in question had absolutely no reason to fire his weapon. Not only did he shoot the young man in the back, but could have easily injured or killed one of his fellow officers instead. I just hope that the other officers are honest enough to testify against him in court, because he needs to be punished to the fullest capacity of the law.

the cop is in the wrong here 1 billion percent. They had him detained, under no circumstances should an officer need to fire the gun in that situation, accident or not...

anyone who is arguing in favor of the officer needs to rewatch the video, and do some soul searching, they were all well detained and cuffed NO REASON AT ALL FOR THAT OFFICER TO EVEN HAVE TO POINT HIS GUN LET ALONE FIRE IT....

clathrate,

You label people thugs so you can avoid having EMPATHY for them. The thug label says more about you, than it says about them.

Wow, and truth be told you''re the one jumping to unsupported conclusions!

I''ve spent my years helping "at-risk" youth as a tutor and mentor. "At-risk" because mom and dad are drunk, or daddy''s in jail, etc.

I have empathy for the kids who have to live in a HELL of a neighborhood because they are surrounded by thugs and deadbeats that beat them up and rob them on their way to and from school.

you''re right, I have NO EMPATHY for people who choose to victimize others for a living.

Your uber-liberal mindset is what has devastated the poor. They are not taught the virtues of education and hard work. Instead, the culture has become one of glorified ***, violence, and out of control behavior.

And when a young black man with dreams of a university education is shot down by some gangbanger rat, no one utters a peep. But when some worthless thug gets himself killed, wow, out comes the black "civil rights" circus. Go figure.

You label people thugs. In this case, the correct label belongs to the officer!!

I followed the link to Youtube. It''s a shortened, lower res. version of the video provided by CBS which SHOWS THE KID FIGHTING WITH THE COPS EARLIER ON.

If you are selective with your evidence, then it''s no wonder your opinion is misinformed.

Yes, I think the cop f-ed up. But I doubt racism is involved...more like just being tired of dealing with 4 out of control thugs.

clathrate,

This video DISPUTE everything you just said. He did not jump up and ram into two police officers. He had his arms up and those around were saying that he was pleading with them not to tase him.

You label people thugs. In this case, the correct label belongs to the officer!!

I''m sure all of you would have been thrilled to call the cops pigs up until the point that they decided to release the thugs back onto the train so that they could continue robbing passengers...then magically, they become the good guys again.

How many of you crying "pig" and "racist" have the nerve and judgement to deal with people day in and day out who would just as soon shoot you as whistle a tune. Furthermore, I''d wager many of you in this same mindset want gun control, ironically furhter placing power in the hands of those you apparently do not trust at all with deadly force.

All I can say is that until you''ve walked a mile in their shoes, you have no right to play your "pig" story over and over again.

That damned kid started this mess and created the situation that got him killed. White, black, or otherwise that kid was a punk@ss thug and sooner or later he''d have been shot dead by a cop, gang memeber, or prison inmate.

This blog board is amazing.... just to see how some of you people feel about the subject of race. Wow.... I can not believe this is actually being said in 2009!

This looks baddddd. There doesn''t appear to be any basis for what the cop did. Frankly, I don''t care WHY he did it, whether it was racist or not. If he did what it looks like he did, he''s dead wrong regardless of the color of the victim.

That having been said, the process for arresting, charging and convicting the cop needs to be followed; he has already resigned so it''s not like he''s out there with his gun still. Let''s not be guilty of our own lynching.
