And he inherited it from the liar that I helped to elect; William Jefferson Clinton. The man who sent our production to China and Mexico.

Put the blame where it belongs

In the congress...

Who make the budget and passes it?
The president can only ask for money..
The congress decides the budget, Passes it.

The President can only approve it or Veto it. He also must try to work within the budget.

Put the blame on Pelosi and Reid as well. OH was Obama in the senate? Put some blame on him.

Lets put the US in deep dept by borrowing money we can not pay back...

This package will trigger the greater Obama Depression and do nothing for the People. Course people like Michael Bloomberg and other Obama back side kissers will put lots in the bank (political and other wise).

We don''t need to stimulate the economy. The economy would be fine if the MSM and liberal Congress would quit throwing fear-mongering tactics down on the people''s heads.

We''ve got a debt that is skyrocketing. Your "One''s" plans are to throw it into the trillions. He''s an enemy of this country with the sole intention of making it fall to ruin for the sake of his mideast brethren.

Long live "The One", Barack HUSSEIN Obama!

Ok repubs. Which works better, give 10 people 10,000,000 dollars, or give 10,000 people 1,000 dollars. Which stimulates the economy? Who will spend more, thus creating business and the need for jobs? Here''s a hint, a lot of people buying mundane things is better than a few buying expensive things. Now, it cannot be simplified any more than that

irmcvet971- I AM A WORKING STIFF AND IF I DON''T HAVE A JOB, EVEN IF I GET A LITTLE CHECK, IT WON''T GO TO BUY ANYTHING MUCH, how much can you buy for $1,000????? One of these days you will need a bushel basket to buy a loaf of bread, we can keep printing more and more! I know I don''t understand everything, but when you have nothing you spend nothing!

Roosevelt''s plan/program brought us where we are today. We are now reaping what he sowed. Sure the people loved him. That''s because they couldn''t see past today. Typical liberal ideology.

Is that what your liberal left wing nutjob reasoning tells you? That we just sit here and watch it fall?

WRONG. If you have a debt, YOU PAY IT OFF, you don''t build more debt.

Do you lefties think about things or just go by your "ME" feelings?

WE NEED JOBS! They have all been shipped over seas! No wonder we have the top dogs and the grunt groans that are starving with no health insurance and loosing their housing! HELP!

There should be no stimulus. You don''''t pay off debt by creating more debt. For the life of me, I don''''t see where these bail out people are coming from...

Irresponsible is the only word I can think of.

10. This is a partisan program that''s designed to promote the Democratic agenda.

No. Almost every businessperson in America -- including the conservative ones -- are stepping forward in support of the stimulus package. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is on board with it. So (unsurprisingly) are most of the building trades and engineering groups who stand to prosper with a new round of infrastructure spending. The current economy is hurting everyone, regardless of political affiliation -- and most Americans agree that it''s time for the government to step in and get things going again.

And Yes. I''ve written before about the way this kind of investment in the health and well-being of the middle class can, in the end, transform long-held conservative beliefs about how the economy should work. A stimulus package that works will prove that government can do important things that no other entity can do; that it can effectively in the public interest; and that there''s actually such a thing as a national common good that deserves to be protected. In short, it will reaffirm progressive values in a way that''s irrefutable, and will earn the enduring respect of the country.

Paul Krugman addresses both the Depression and the example of Japan in his new book, "The Return of Depression Economics." According to his telling of the tale, in both cases the affected economies strengthened as long as the government continued to infuse capital into them; but bobbled when there was enough improvement that the budget hawks could get some political traction. When the spending flagged, so did the recovery. In Japan, bold steps alternating with repeated failures of nerve created a liquidity trap that stagnated the country''s economy through most of the 1990s.

Keynes'' prescription has worked everywhere it''s been tried -- as long as governments acted boldly and quickly enough. It''s not medicine that works if you take it in half-doses, or quit before the course of treatment is finished. In fact, doing it with less than full commitment can actually make the situation worse.
