Latest Unemployment Figures Are Worst In 26 Years; Consumer Spending Down For Fifth Straight Month
- 2008 was almost a perfect year for the Democratic Party. We missed only 1 Democratic Senator in Congress for a Filibuster-Proof Senate. I only hope that 2009 will be an even better year for the Democratic Party.
The Greedy Republican Party is in Coma for another 40 years - again. Thank you Republican President Bush for been such an Idiot around the world. - Reply to this comment
- Just because I speak the truth, please spare me your sanctimonious judgment. I''m not a Repub. To ignore the fact that Dem policies and programs aren''t a latent and contributing factor to many of the current economic crises is to be arrogant, ignorant, naive, foolish and delusional.

If a Democrats had controlled the government for the last eight year you would be screaming bloody murder about "liberal" politicians.
The Republicans and their mindless anti-deregulation policies are who is responsible for this mess. Read this again: CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANS AND THEIR MINDLESS, ENDLESS THIEVERY ARE WHY WE ARE WHERE WE ARE.
Think about your country for a change and stop defending these traitors. - Reply to this comment
- With massive layoffs expect more people won''t be able to pay bills and loans of any sort, so expect the bankers to be back asking for more money.

Exactly right. Not one damm cent should have been given to those bankers. Not one! Every cent should have been spent on Americans who were going to be without jobs and homes. These neocons like being fed off of taxpayer money. - Reply to this comment
- Let''''s stop laying blame at Bush and Repubs. The Dems are just as guilty with all of their entitlement and goody programs -crddibility
Bullkrap! The philosophy of give to rich and take from the poor is what has caused this nonsense and there is only one party that believes in doing that: republicans. - Reply to this comment
- It has been reported that jobless claims have risen more then expected last week, and that consumer spending is down for the 5th month in a row.
THE GREAT DEPRESSION OF THE 21ST CENTURY CAUSED BY THE GREAT EMPEROR BUSH II AND HIS NEOCON FASCIST NAZI CORPORATE BUDDIES IS HERE!!!!!!
So as we shovel snow and wonder how we can hang onto our homes (those of us who still have a home!), how we are going to pay our utility bills, how we are going to afford a trip to the grocery store, and if we will have a job or not after the holidays (those of us who still have jobs!), the highly-paid, highly-perked, totally-GREEEDY, but absolutely-STUPID corporate executives and bankers who got us into this DEPRESSION, will have tons of money, eat well, and live well, thanks to TARP (paid for by ALL OF US!), and the "3 Stooges" of political and economic crime (Bush, Paulson, Bernanke) who handed these crooks the money with no strings attached!
SIG HEIL, HAPPY HOLIDAYS, YOU AVERAGE CITIZEN DUMMIES!!!, BUSH!!! - Reply to this comment
- Look at the bright side of things. For twenty-six years the unemployment rate hasn''t been at its worst. Let''s stop laying blame at Bush and Repubs. The Dems are just as guilty with all of their entitlement and goody programs, including turning a blind eye when they should have been paying closer attention to Fannie and Freddie. And let''s not forget what was done in the waning days of the Clinton presidency and that was to change the regs on swaps. The chickens, which have had the lay of the roost for decades now, are coming home. Many today are too young to recall what it''s like to live within one''s means, avoid debt or making it, pay it off in a timely manner, or not living off of plastic, or expecting to get something they''re not financially worthy of. Yes, blame Repubs, but also blame the Dems. Blame Wall Street, but also blame Main Street. Merry Christmas and here''s to a New Year where many get their heads out of the sand and start living as they should have been along - out of debt and within one''s means. Lastly, don''t blame Bush or Repubs for getting that big ole'' flat screen with plastic and now not knowing how to pay it off and on time. Blame yourself for being greedy and wanting what you''re really not entitled to.

- Mission accomplished for the "free market" corporatists. Doomsday for the working and middle classes. Thanks for the legacy, Butch and his GOP Crime Syndicate.

- The U.S. government is completly corrupt, judicial, legislative and executive branches. The courts are theater. Now they have to figure out how to protect themselves from vigilanty Patriots. The only way to do that is to get our own to feed on our own, i.e. soldier protecting the corrupt from the citizen.

- America will see riots similar to those currently ongoing in Greece and that the cause will be a hyper-inflationary depression..

That''s why the government is going to be increasingly using the military against Americans, to "protect" us from the domestic terrorists, (Americans who might go after the people who robbed this country blind). We can''t have that now, can we?
Seems your one of the few who have an idea of what''s to come. - Reply to this comment

- Last month job layoffs equalled the population of Wyoming. So far, December has seen job losses equalling the population of Washington DC. Hmmm, I wonder why consumer spending is down. Is it to late to get the trillionsand trillions of $$$ back the Bush/Cheney Regime stole from every American.

- This would be so laughable if we weren''t on a sinking ship. Maybe when the rich elite have taken all the life boats, with tickets they bought with your tax dollars and you all realize where you really are, maybe then you will realize that it had nothing to do with whether they were Republicans or Democrats.
Unfortunately, I doubt it, as I said earlier you will be fighting over whether it was the Democrats or the Republicans that took all the boats.
Until then, Merry Christmas, and hopefully you all don''t get coal in your stockings. - Reply to this comment
- WHAT a crazy country. Controlled media is helping the worst president in history try and cover up all the stupid things he did in 8 years. No hue and cry or news anchors holding Cheney and Bushes feet to the fire. Instead only the regular *** kissing news guys interview those two WAR criminals and ask softball questions.

- One thing for sure.
Obama will have a tough time matching Bush''s glorious record these past 8 years!
935 lies to get us into war.
4200 Dead Americans because of that war!
$3 trillion flushed down that ******** Iraq.
The economy decimated!
This President is destined for HISTORY!
No need for any talking points!

- Remember Ross Perot said that once you pass a 100 billion there''s not enough money in print to cash that out.
That''s why the ''derivates market'' was created to create a ''shadow banking'' system that could use derivative-swaps as stocks and trade them around instead of actual ''printed money''.
Now that that market is blown out, the oligarchs running the system want to ''cash out'', bailout or simply ''monetize'' the quadrillions in derivatives.
However global output is only some $50 trillion which means it''s impossible unless every man, woman and child on the planet dies paying off the debt.
That''s why the ''monetary-system'' is hopelessly bankrupt and like a decaying corpse is too dangerous to leave lying around healthy people. - Reply to this comment
