Several of you need to educate yourselves on civics and the law. Your arguments do not hold water. The written law doesn''t always mean what you interpret it to mean.

Just another way for the government to control us, until we have no freedom of choice left.

You may restict where I use my property, outside my other "property" if it endangers others. Like driving your car on the sidewalk. Which they have done. But you cannot without making it illegal to own them, make it illegal for me to possess them. So you cannot take away my right to smoke(property) in my Home (property). Because I have a right to that property. Which makes smoking a "right".

If I walk into a store and take them, I can be arrested for stealing someone elses "property" the same as if I took your car. SO if I purchase them they legally become my "property" which means for them to be taken away you have to prove through due process of law that they are no longer my "property" and I no longer have a "right" to them.

DebinOK1, Cigarettes are not a right!

Yes they are they are my PROPERTY which is a RIGHT, just like your car, your house, your TV.

If I can be convicted of stealing it, It is legally defined as Property and we have a legal RIGHT to our PROPERTY.

Hope PEBO won''t be treated like a 2nd class citizen like the rest of us. I have smoked for 38 yrs. and, yes, I know it is a evil habit. BUT it is an ADDICTION. And a damned ugly one.
Where I work, Jan. 5th, we become a completely smoke-free company. Gonna be a bunch of grouchy, irritable people in there!!

Drugs became illegal because the ecessive use was threatening to destroy this country.

Yes you are right on how things became illegal. But the drugs you mentioned, all were dangerous drugs, and pot is not dangerous.

It''s time to repeal laws on pot anyways. Which BTW, is the only one I mentioned, if you remember right.

." The most important consists of the first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution, passed in 1791. These include, among others, rights of freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom from unreasonable searches and seizures, rights to trial by jury, and the guarantee that no one will be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law.

As long as I buy my cigarettes, they are my "property" and a "right" and you cannot take them away without due process of law.

slim1h2o, The pursuit of happiness, not the right thereto, comes from the Declaration of Independence not the Constitution.

slim1h2o, I suggest you take that agrument to a federal court--you won''''t get far because smoking is not a right!

Posted by stlouisman3 slim1h2o,

Obviously smoking is not listed in the constitutuin as a right as most things are not but I am sure a creative lawyer could get it definedas a right.

barack has many GREAT qualities and maybe kids could emulate those instead of his smoking.

I do believe I remember reading that one of yours, and I did agree with you on it as well.
Parents need to be their own children''s role models, and should expect complete strangers to do it for them.

BTW,,where''s the capitalisation''s? Hmmmm?

Sort of kidding on that last one...LOL

In addition, it has been shown that un-belted passengers also pose an additional risk to the driver losing control of his vehicle as they may impact the driver during an accident.

I did hear something about that, can''''t remember what the problems that were cited.

But whatever they are, it won''''t get better simply because it will be illegal.

In fact, things will get much worse. Hopefully before they do anything, they look here to see what NOT to do.

The point is history seemse to indicate legal drugs leads to excessive use. The illegalization of drugs in this country wasn''t something that happened over night. Drug use in this country, including cocaine and heroine, were legal at one point and became so ingrained in society that working mothers were using opiates to put there kidds to sleep at night. Drugs became illegal because the ecessive use was threatening to destroy this country.
