While I am not a big Walmart fan,I do not believe
they are responsible for this horrible act. Those
brain less people acting like vultures are solely
to blame.I am 49 years old and have worked in retail
since I was 17 and I know how crazy people can act.
I hope this haunts all these people involved on
christmas as their opening their gifts and every
year here after,it''s what they deserve.

Yes, a frenzy is just what happened. The greedy customer''s were enticed to come to Walmart for "
Black Friday Bargins". Well, it was a black day for this employee, Mr Damour, and a black day for his family. I hope they win millions and billions of dollars. The laws in advertising should be changed. Never again should they advertise as "Black Friday Sales". Regular hours and stopping these special that start at 4 a.m. should be against the law.
No, I have never, ever gone to a Black Friday sale. That is not what Christmas is all about.

then make people wait in a line all night in the cold with 100 other people that they know they''''re competing with for the product they want.

Walmart MADE these people stand in line? Whatever happened to alarm clocks? You set them to wake yourself up in time to be there when the doors OPEN. That''s common sense!! Which the people at this 1 store, out of the millions of business'' that do this, didn''t use.

The lawyers are right - for once. They set up a sale to create a frenzy - a very few extremely good bargains, placed somewhere in the store - it''''s designed to create a long line of people ready to push and run through the store to try to beat everyone else to the deals. A responsible store does what most of them do - give tickets to the first people in the line, so there is no need to push or rush.

A great many stores do the same thing. The difference is Walmart shoppers are a different breed. I once saw a large black woman clobber a little black dude with a box of laundry soap because he didn''t get the right kind of soap(Husband I think)and hardly anybody noticed or paid attention. The type of customer & store makes a bit of a difference.

And which law firm is it that you work for? Walmart can''t control the HUMAN mind. In this case, which seemed to be missing. These sales have happened every year since I was a child, and I''m sure more than likely before I was born. So saying that Walmart did this, is ludacris

While there''s no excuse for the behaviour of the customers I think the time has come for all retailers to change their ways when it comes to these Black Friday sales. I

I agree that that the retailers have to take some responsibility for creating a mob like atmosphere. They advertise a product such as a laptop or a plasma TV for a ridiculously low price to attract customers, make it clear that they will only have a very limited amount of them and then make people wait in a line all night in the cold with 100 other people that they know they''re competing with for the product they want.

Honestly I''m surprised that more people haven''t been killed over the years.

Things like this happens,it''''s ashame but any store cannot be responsible for this. FIND THE PEOPLE THAT DID IT AND SUE THEM OR PUT THEM IN JAIL.It coould hae been kids. Why are they having such a difficult time finding the people they have security tape to use,or does the race make it difficult to tell one from another???

I think we have a Wal-Mart employee in our midst....nice try but Wal-Mart is the Taliban of the retail sales world....death to all competition at any way possible!

Oh heck why not just throw in the store you bought it from too. If you get millions, I''''d like my fair share for telling you who to go after :P

It''''s too bad this will be settled out of court with a Michael Jackson style non-disclosure clause!

I would love to see this go to the jury!

Just out of curiosity....who do you think the jury would agree with? I mean, after all common sense would be to go with? Just a thought....
They have security camera''s everywhere. Pull the tapes and get the faces of the ones that started the snowball of people that caused this mans death. After all JUSTICE is what everyone wants right? I do find it "funny" that this isn''t the ONLY Walmart that held this kind of sale, but it''s the only Walmart that this happened at. Sort of makes one think

Walmart earned every bit of the blame for this. I think a reasonable settlement would be $40 million. The Bentonville Brain Trust really skerulled this one up! They should have offered the family $1 million on Satrurday morning.

Dovestar, you have interesting idea of standards. I guess a human life meant something before 1962, if you were white.

Do you any of you have any sense of decency? This man - whomever he was was TRAMPLED TO DEATH! No matter what his race, no matter what his stature - he was killed by freakish fiends (no different from addicts) that had to have their way to get into the store - for what? Honestly - is $5.00 off an item really worth another life? Seriously people. That man deserved more than being TRAMPLED!!!!!
