Sometimes I wonder the mentality of the people in this opinion column.
The guys weren''t carrying guns because they had permits to carry and were upstanding citizens...they were freakin'' gang bangers!!
They only reason they carried guns was to kill people
not to protect against violence or the deranged!
They were the deranged.
Guns laws will not stop people like this so complain all you want about gun laws. it''s people like this
that WE need protection from!

Dam right I would carry my gun into a Toys r us, or any other store for that matter. they say he chased
this guy down. A normal citizen with a right to
carry had the right to protect the third party
and could have taken him down before he shot the other
guy. But then again, two deranged killers dead.

and one more thing.. Since a few of you saw fit to abuse me earlier, let me point out a few salient facts about myself, which might surprise you given my views on "gun control" (whatever THAT is)

a: I am a lifelong registered democrat
b: I voted for Barack Obama
c: I do NOT think making handguns illegal is a senseable idea, for several reasons
d: I DO beleieve that guns should be sold only with a background check to make sure the buyer has no violent criminal history
e: I do NOT OWN A GUN
A few notes:
IT IS ALREADY ILLEGAL almost everywhere to carry a concealed handgun ALREADY---
A "concealed carry" permit is issued, in a FEW states, to people who have undergone thorough background checks, psycological evaluations, and a month''s worth of training classes about the law and the use of deadly force.
SIMPLY PUT: guns exist, criminals will get them legally or illegally.. Making them illegal CANNOT change this..

I wish people didn''t shoot each other..
BUT THEY DO..

I just cant understand that people, who are well-intentioned but foolish, can beleieve that making handguns illegal will somehow stop violence. It is simply rediculous.. This world is FILLED with guns.
AMERICAN companies make millions manufacturing guns to sell to places like China, Africa and anywhere there is a war.. You cant stop it.. I wish we could, but you cant..
Making handguns illegal simply takes away the rights of the law abiding citizen to own a product, a tool, which is what a gun is..

That old saw "outlaw handguns and only outlaws will have guns!" is true, it really is..
Think about it.
Guns wont disappear because people will keep making them, somewhere in the world.. And there will always be a black market if they were illegal.

then you would buy less guns, less guns would be made, less guns would end up in the hands of criminals, and less people would be killed every single day



THAT is a remarkable series of logic leaps...
I think you have good intentions, but as I said this morning the guns are out there.. It is not about the existence of guns, anyway. It is about people''s willingness to murder each other.

AND, the NRA does not "make a profit", nor fo they sell guns..
Again, logically, guns exist. There legal status does not change their existential status..Just like drugs.. It sucks, yeah, I know..
But making guns illegal will make no difference to PEOPLE like this.. It will only affect people who are responsible gun owners.. These guys were MURDEROUS CRIMINALS.
How could gun legality affect people like this??

Race, religion, guns, or sexuality is not the issue-the poor men doing the shooting were obviously victims of society. Just wait, Jackson or Sharpton will appear to defend(for a nominal fee or publicity) these poor victims.

The National guard busy with a war overseas...

poor police and societal discipline---a lot of lost jobs....

a lot of illegal immigrants..... bad weather..government in disarray... when all of a sudden--scared, tired, angry, armed to the teeth Americans reach critical mass...
