Thank goodness some Great judge had the gonads to call him out as a tyrant and it blew his mind. We need this judge to start showing up at Every Speach from this administration to speak the truth and hopefully make the speaker face plant into the mic for a little nap. Well Done and was on camera too. Brilliant!

Let us hope the new AG has some ''nads like these!

Finally, a real conservative has the balls to state the obvious.

Bush and his cronies are not worthy of any sort of respect. Mukasey is a tyrant, and I hope he rots in hell for his role in essentially legalizing ex-judicial punishment.

Bush, just leave early, we''re tired of you and your worthless ''yes man'' idiots. Just leave.

The only thing that scares me is the America becoming a ploice state. The constutions gives us rights as American ciszens,,born and nationalised. It seems that this nation has a problem with the constution since bush forced his way in to office. There was a day ye could speak yer mind. Now that want to put fear in ye. Well my 72 year old Dad and older vets raised their paws for the older America, They know what I mean. Shanders thank ye.

Yes, we are in a sad state of affairs, Mukasey probably told W it was perfectly leagal,
When that God- d-a-m-n-e-d piece of paper ( as W calls it) that gives a president his power and clearly states it isn''t legal even in "wartime"

Finally, a judge willing to stand up and tell the truth to those who have flouted numerous laws to have their way!!! I say BRAVO to Sanders!

Too bad the rest of the judges did not join Sanders in walking out, instead of listeing to the nonsense Mukasey was spewing.

txgrouch2007:

Did you bother to READ the essay? In the foreward, Dr. Konig actually states:

"Analysis brought to bear on the historical meaning of "the right of the people to keep and bear arms"1 has coalesced around two competing normative interpretations: either that the amendment guarantees a personal, individual right to bear arms, or that it applies only collectively to the effectiveness of the militia. It is a premise of this essay that both these models are historically unsatisfactory, the products of present-day normative agendas that have polarized the debate into two competing and largely ahistorical models..."

You are constantly charging other people to READ...so it shouldn''t be unreasonable to ask you to do the same. It might not change your viewpoint...but your opinion would certainly be better informed.

Especially considering the policies of the new President-elect(keeping in mind that I voted for him anyway)?

What has the NEW President EVER done or said to indicate that he would NOT follow the findings of the Courts or the LAW! I have know Obama for over 20 years and he''s represented the State of Illinois for nearly that long. He has NEVER, NOT ONCE, even indicated that he would do ANYTHING even close to what George Bush has done to our Constitution.

NO one from the gov''''t is going to knock on your door and demand your firearms unless you are found guilty of other related crimes.

Currently, FBI agents need specific reasons - like evidence or allegations that a law probably has been violated - to investigate U.S. citizens and legal residents. The new policy, law enforcement officials told The Associated Press, would let agents open preliminary terrorism investigations after mining public records and intelligence to build a profile of traits that, taken together, were deemed suspicious. Among the factors that could make someone subject of an investigation is travel to regions of the world known for terrorist activity, access to weapons or military training, along with the person''s race or ethnicity.

Why do you feel so confident about that?

Especially considering the policies of the new President-elect(keeping in mind that I voted for him anyway)?

Oh, yeah, the topic...

As I said - if shouting at people during a public presentation has become an ADMIRABLE form of expression, then we have stooped to a new low in our society.

ESPECIALLY if the person shouting in public is A JUDGE.

I personally found Dr. Konig''''s essay to be both readable and interesting.

Good for you! That''s your right, and I respect it.

I respect the rights of others to express their OPINIONS about what is a reliable source of legitimate infomation and what it not.

I raise the compairson because my opinion is that the sources you respect might be just as biased as the NRA magazine is, but in the opposite direction.

Isn''t that possible?

Since no medical reason could be found for Mr. Mukasey''s collapse, maybe his conscience felled him?

the question was part of a survey given to Marines.

It is relevant because the other questions on the survey deal with Military enforcing civil law and falling under UN control. The UN is trying to ban or restrict all small arms. If The US joins the UN in a treaty to ban small arms, that treaty is the law of the land. A treaty would supercede our constitution. Does this scare you? It should.
The survey was given a the same time as a high level vist from the Council of Foregin Relations (know what that is?) you can find the survey here: http://www.geoffmetcalf.com/419.html

txgrouch2007:

I grew up reading National Geographic, but I certainly don''t claim expertise on any of the topics covered by that magazine based on my readership. If you think American Rifleman is as unbiased a source as Law and History Review, and that its contributors have more expertise than Dr. Konig, you are certainly free to hold that opinion.

I personally found Dr. Konig''s essay to be both readable and interesting. Americans two hundred and fifty years from now will probably find it as hard to understand some of the contemporary events that influenced OUR courts'' decisions as we experience trying to understand the minds and intentions of the founders of the Republic...and the discussions may be equally contentious.

Well, I understand. The light might not be very good when you''re living in a culvert.

Evan a conservative judge has had enough of Bush''s tyranny. Bush has turned this country in the direction of Presidential authoritarianism (The GOP euphemistically calls it "Unitary Executive"). Let''s all hope Obama will reverse the course, despite early evidence that he will not.

Was it fun? Any jokes you''d like to make about it?

Would you like some losers on this board to make some jokes about your grandmother now?

I''m pretty sure you could find some.

You must either read some really idiotic magazines, listen to some real lunatics, watch some really stupid movies, or have seriously paranoid delusions.
Posted by tuckerndfw at 11:23 AM : Nov 26, 2008

You joined in the middle of the discussion.

Actually that WAS the original question. A magazine for military personnel asked that exact question:

If the federal government decided to confiscate all privately owned firearms, would you (as a member of the armed services) shoot to kill a citizen who refused to turn over a firearm, and who opened fire on you when you attempted to carry out an order to take it?

Don''t blame us. That''s what the magazine asked.
