Many things have contributed to the mess we%u2019re in. Bureaucratic management can never compete with the free market in solving problems. Central economic planning doesn%u2019t work. Just look at the failed systems of the 20th century. Welfarism is an example of central economic planning. Paper money, money created out of thin air to accommodate welfarism and government deficits, is not only silly, it%u2019s unconstitutional. No matter how hard the big spenders try to convince us otherwise, deficits do matter. But lowering the deficit through higher taxes won%u2019t solve anything.

Nothing will change in Washington until it%u2019s recognized that the ultimate driving force behind most politicians is obtaining and holding power. And money from special interests drives the political process. Money and power are important only because the government wields power not granted by the Constitution. A limited, constitutional government would not tempt special interests to buy the politicians who wield power. The whole process feeds on itself. Everyone is rewarded by ignoring constitutional restraints, while expanding and complicating the entire bureaucratic state.

The majority of Americans are angry, disgusted, and frustrated that so little is being done in Congress to solve their problems. The fact is a majority of American citizens expect the federal government to provide for every need, without considering whether government causes many economic problems in the first place. This certainly is an incentive for politicians to embrace the role of omnipotent problem solvers, since nobody asks first whether they, the politicians themselves, are at fault.

How exactly will Obama ''create'' 2.5 Million jobs out of thin air?

If government can simply create jobs where there were none before, why is there ANY unemployment?

Wouldn''t it be in the best interest of any incumbent politician to eliminate unemployment so they can remain in power?

Alas, the government CANNOT create ANY new jobs (via confiscation of taxes)without first DESTROYING private sector employment.

Unfortunately, most Americans are economic illiterates and cannot understand this simple concept. thus, they will continue to believe the false prophecies of their elected Masters.

This would cause the level of chaos necessary to make the United States ungoverneable and Bush to declare an emergency dictatorship.

You been drinkin'' Cisco, haven''t you?

If Obama gets assassinated, all that would happen is Biden would get sworn in instead.

Then we''d have just another drunken white guy for President.

But I agree, this would be a GOOD time for Bush to take another vacation in Crawford until the end of January.

Won''t he be surprised to come back to the White House and find someone else living there.

And he probably would be...

Bush has to resign immediately.

Oligarchs within British circles might want to assasinate Obama before he''s inaugurated and Democrats and Republicans must unite to not allow that to happen.

This would cause the level of chaos necessary to make the United States ungoverneable and Bush to declare an emergency dictatorship.

THE BRITISH GLOBAL FINANCIAL EMPIRE IS DEAD!!!!!!

STOP THEM FROM SACRIFICING HUMANITY FOR THE SAKE OF RESURRECTING A DEAD FINANCIAL SYSTEM!!!!

"Obama pointed to the past, saying that Americans in this country''s darkest hours have risen above their divisions to solve their problems, as a hope for the future. "

Who said "Bush is Hitler?"

"President-elect Barack Obama promoted an economic plan Saturday he said would create 2.5 million jobs by rebuilding roads and bridges and modernizing schools while developing alternative energy sources and more efficient cars."

Wow, Democrats are talking about alternative energy sources AGAIN.

Let''s see, they started talking about that when Carter declared the "moral equivalent of war" on the energy crisis. What alternative energy sources resulted? None.

When Clinton was President, we had the money to develop new energy sources. And it was more than ten years ago when he took office, so if new source were developed then they''d be on the market today. How many new energy sources were developed. None.

Here we are, the next Democrat stepping up the plate. Oops, the economy is collapsing, after we spent more than a year paying nearly $4/gallon for gasoline. Sure would be nice to have some alternative energy sources on the market NOW.

Too late.

Democrats are good at TALKING about alternative energy sources. They''ve been doing since the 1970''s.

Proposing rebuilding infrastructure and implementing 21st century energy technologies like solar and wind don;t sound much like low paying or "working in the tar pits for potatoes" jobs to me. We finally have people coming forth with real ideas to help save the country, and some people are more concerened with proving their partisan views than with the welfare of their country and fellow citizens. That is un-american, and borderline treasonous.

It''s amazing how Republican Jim Baker (former Secreatary of State to Bush the Dad) basicly said along with many others today on Sunday talk shows that GW Bush should step down early so Barrack can implement his economic plan.

They all say that the Bush/Hannity-Depression is unfolding too quickly to wait until January 20

For example, in big infrastructure projects, it''''s wasteful as well as insulting to take someone with a Master''''s in Civil Engineering and order him/her to do nothing but get the training and drive a forklift on the project. Few want to featherbed; Obama had better ask the unemployed what they can do at their highest level and reach a concensus with what the authorities want to do. Keeping people underemployed as well as unemployed is one tactic the powerful use to keep their power.

This is all well and good with a varied workforce but if you have 100,000 CEOs and ten blue collar workers you have to cross-train. I am retired but have the skills to make almost anything I want out of wood, metal and plastic (with the needed tools) and to make those also if necessary. I am in the minority and as rare as ''hens teeth'' and won''t be around that much longer. If this Nation is to climb back to the peak, it will be the willing masses that do it, not the gummit...
