What makes you think a company that employs however many Americans won''t hesitate to domicile themselves in Panama for instance where the corporate tax rate is quite low compared to the US? They can still operate as a foreign entity in the U.S. but why bother? They can move just south of the border, save millions in wages and import.

That''s the corporate side. A look at the private side. These CEO''s and anyone else who passes the tax threshold can afford to move elsewhere. In fact, over the past three years foreign goverments have given incredible incentives to Middle-Aged successful Americans to move there. They don''t even have to actually move there they can simply rent a condo.

My point is it is EVERYONE''S fault. Not just corporate, not just Bush or Clinton or Pelosi (even though she''s god-awful). It''s everyones problem. Pinning blame just causes more division.

Speaking of division, there is a great one between myself and mcgoo and frankfurt. All you had to do was not call me a maggot. If we were married i''d cheat on you.

Actually I think I will go to China where most of the doctors were American trained and it cost much less.

My wife needed catarac surgery. No insurance and, after about $1K in charges for tests and evaluations, they wanted $12K cash up front to do both eyes. Forget compassion or making the patient better in the good ol'' USA. She had a trip to China planned to return to visit her family. A short stay in the hospital on two occassions, once for each eye, and about $1.5K total and now she has 20/40 vision corrected to 20/20 with glasses (due to cornea defects 20/20 post surgery was not possible, but we knew that going in) after her bilateral surgery.

That''s right, it cost us about 10% in china what it would have cost us here. Is it any wonder why others are taking medical vacations? It is a chance to see other parts of the world and get that surgery for a fraction of the price. The savings alone canpay for the trip, its a win-win solution.

frankfurt, i take it back, you''re no longer cool or should i say kool-aid.

it''s called factual numbers. for anyone who lives in a country with socialised healthcare they''ll tell you they have a private practicing doctor because the public system just doesn''t work.

The idea of trickle-down economy is simplified like this. If corporations are successful they will employ more people, gaining more profit and paying better wages. Included in that is more profit= more in taxes= less taxes needed from the public.

The interesting notion is that people are beating up corporate america. Field trip class? Let''s go to Rhode Island in the 1980''s. GE had over 40,000 employees in a state with the highest corporate tax rates (let alone the US has one of highest corportate tax rates in the world). Rhode Island tried to raise taxes higher and GE pulled out. 40,000 jobs were lost and moved inland without a flinch.

sillybillymcgoo,

For your information, i''m not a republican. I''m actually such a democrat that I volunteer for Planned Parenthood so your statement just got shut down. Also, this isnt'' a democrat/republican conversation. It''s an informed vs. misinformed/lazy conversation.

Please explain how my arugments lack reason and accountability? After conversing with you I actually feel empowered knowing that I''m not a drone in the war against the successful.

Frankfurt, I apologize for our tiff before, you no longer have the least-rational argument but the personal chef point was just pent up frustration after listening to an election full of people crying out of happiness because they think credit card debt will magically be forgiven and the world is going to be peaceful, because it was peaceful once, i guess

And if you''''re making a reference that I "swallowed" the Bush brainwash pill than you might have a point if my views weren''''t based on fact. As opposed to the majority of the population believing their debts will be forgiven, there will be peace in the middle east, no more homeless, everyone will have health care and top-notch education and we''''ll all have personal chefs for free because we have a new president.
******
GOSH! Who are all these people wanting personal chefs for free???? Is that what you think of the middle class? No bloody doubt.

yeswaymcgoo,

Maggot, such hurtful words from a cartoon character. If I came off blaming Clinton for the predatory practices of Mortgage brokers than I apologize. Because I continue to not blame the easy target. I think i mentioned it already. the MORTGAGE BROKERS ARE TO BLAME. Not Clinton or Bush or Taft or Eisenhower. It''s easiest to blame Bush because no one has time to look at views that oppose their own ill-informed spoon-fed from Daily Show talking points.

And i take back my apology for thinking you had an inkling of sense of humor and you are no longer welcome in the un-united lands of America.

Go to Canada where health care is great and when you need actual care hop on a plane to florida like most canadians do for their treatment.

Mcgoo, I like where your head is at... Mcgoo---- MAgoo, like Mr. Magoo, I like it. A United Productions of America Cartoon land. Sweet Gig.

Now, Mr/Ms/Mrs (want to cover all my basis) Mcgoo, if you were just referring to the way I answered a previous post and with no ill-will, then I bid you a thank you and apologize for feeling the need to defend myself.

Now, would you like to be the Lord of the "United Productions of America" land?

Let''''s tax them higher and watch them move overseas. AND YOU CAN GO WITH THEM
***********
Well, they won''t be moving to Europe because Europeans will not stand for corporations coming to steal from their people. So, they will have to go to Indonesia where the life of a child is worthless, and where it takes three months worth of wages to buy just a pair of pants and where women are less in value than a dog. Hey, maybe you can go there as well.

And don''''t accuse me of forgetting something you ignorant and insignificant pebble on a beach. Take a look at how the situation started. People called mortgage brokers took advantage of people that didn''''t deserve to even inquire about a loan to begin with. I believe this was under President Clinton''''s initiative to have approximately 70% of Americans become homeowners.

And I have nothing against Clinton, I like him and I''''m not pro-Bush but I feel sympathy for him being beraded by a bunch of over-spending un-educated dingleberries who fail to comprehend that this situation started because the masses of America feel entitled to a lifestyle that they don''''t deserve. Keep complaining about the fat cats and Corporate America. If it wasn''''t for them , who pay upwards of 80% of total national taxes there would be no middle class to begin with.

oh Frankfurt, remember a lad by the name of William Jefferson Clinton (sorry, i''m in a phase where i like to mention peoples middle names) From what I remember he deregulated a significant portion more than George Wilton Guerrero (he needed a new middle name) Bush.

And don''t accuse me of forgetting something you ignorant and insignificant pebble on a beach. Take a look at how the situation started.
