Take away TV''''s. Solve a lot of children''''s overexposure to violence, s-x, excess consumerism, isolationism, obesity, anxiety, sleeplessness, etc. Tar and feather pedophiles.

Those people there have been trained by Al Quida and have no fear of death. You are no Taliban!~ "LOL"

THat''s where you are wrong, we trained the Taliban and AlQuada, when they were fighting the Russians.

And weather they are getting blown up, misses the point. They are still defending themselves with hand held weapons.
And your assumption that I''m not a Taliban, you''re right.
I''m an American.

So you shot two people people one armed with a TV? How brave. Criminologists say that in most cases citizens use guns to defend themselves do so in crimes that could have been stopped without the use of guns as well. Using a gun unneccessarily in a home could result in you shooting a family member instead of the criminal armed with your remote!~ You don''''t need a gun. You are like the lion in the Wizard of Oz. You just lack courage!~

One, I was alone at the time. Two, it was dark so I did not know what they were armed with. Three, even if i had known they did not have guns i would have done the same thing, they were in my home trying to steal my belongings. Incidentally there has not been one break in on my block since then. Prior to that there were a number of houses broken into and robbed, some while people were home sleeping. I believe the fact that my neighbors and the local police showed overwhelming support to me and my actions sent a message. If your going to break inot a house don''t do it here, the people will not hesitiate to shoot you. Also I have had people critize me saying a TV was not worth two lives but I disagree. I did not know either of the intruders, so wether they lived or died did not matter to my future. My TV however cost me a good amount of money which I earned.

Wasn''''t it just last week, there was an article here about how a 12-year-old killed himself at a gun show with an uzi?

And what kind of responsible parent and gun owner takes their 12 year old to a gun show?
I don''t know I guess i''m just going by my own experiences with my family, my husband and I both grew up around guns, our families have for generations, and NO ONE has ever been killed by a gun in either of our families, or our friend''s families for that matter. We were all tought healthy respect for guns, knives, anything that could be used as a weapon or IS a weapon.

You are aware of local governments in Texas where just about anyone can carry a gun and they have like zero violent crimes right?

It is my opinion and the opinion of many scholars. Regarding the "has no basis in fact"...Says WHO? YOU?

those scholars coming to protect you and your family should something go wrong. i have grown up in some tough neighborhoods in my time and i certainly feel my family is safer with my guns regardless of what any scholars say.

Our prayers are going out to all involved, but, especially for that little boy who is all alone right now, My heart is breaking, he is still a child and has no idea what is happening. I can''t stop crying over how lonely I think he must feel and probably doesn''t understand why he cant go home or why there is no one to give him a hug or tuck him in at night. Dear Lord, I know you are there with him.

At the time they wrote the Constitution guns were relevant to freedom. That relevancy is now obsolete.

that is simply your opinion and has no basis in fact.

It is appalling that the police want this eight year old boy tried as an adult. If you ask me, this never would have occurred if the adult, the one responsible for securing the gun, did not fail to do this. If you own a gun and a kid get there hands on it and kills someone, the gun owner should be responsible. Owning a gun is a right, but like all rights, come responsibilities.

"LOL" That you guys think we are still living in that era when we needed guns to protect our freedoms!~

Posted by truthrocks at 02:18 PM : Nov 19, 2008

I know what era I''m living in. BTW, why oh why can''t we take out the Taliban over in Afghanistan?

They have no tanks, they have no big missiles they only have hand held guns and rocket launchers.

So don'' tell me that we couldn''t do the same as well.

And too, The King of England did take away religous freedoms, and that''s why we came here, well one of the reasons.

I would propose to make them illegal to be bought, sold, and manufactured in this country. Eventually the numbers would drop to an acceptable level, along with the deaths related to guns.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Posted by CBSNews53 at 02:10 PM : Nov 19, 2008

Ok, so you''re going to
1) put millions of american people out of a job
2) force our troops, and law enforcement officials to buy weapons from the only distributers which would be outside the country, and most likely, our enemies
3) Which in turn, would allow then to deny selling them to us....
4) Which would make us unable to defend ourself
5) Which would destroy our country...
good job.
Besides, it''s not the people who legaly purchase guns that are the problem, it''s the people who STEAL THEM, or buy them ILLEGALY....so....you''re still going to have a problem with guns even if you make them illegal.

slim said "Taking away guns won''''''''t help......."

truthrocks said: Yes, it will because homicide and suicide attempts with guns succeed 90% of the time and attempts without guns fail 90% of the time. A lot of people survive suicide and homicide attempts without guns but when they use guns they died. That means reducing or banning guns will result in a decline in homicides and suicides. That''''s a FACT!~

-------------------------------------------

Do the "homicide" statistics include self-defense? If so, then unfortunately, while the number of total homicides may or may not decline, the ENTIRE number would be confined to victims. My husband has thwarted a robbery in the past by just showing his gun. There''s no way to track how many homicides have NOT occurred due to the presence of a gun.

Because we have over 100,000 car deaths each year, we need over 100,000 caskets each year.

How many nic names you got anyways?

or go the Mall with gas cans and set it on fire, killing hundreds
or drive your car 100mph on the way to the Mall, through a playground, and kill dozens of kids
