Monsignor Repudiates Priest's Statement That Supporters Of Dem. May Not Take Communion Until Doing Penance
- ''According to national exit polls, 54 percent of Catholics chose Obama''
The Catholic Church better not push it too much, they''re going to be looking at a lot of empty pews. - Reply to this comment
- If I were a representative of the Catholic Church, I would keep a low profile and not engage in any debates related to ***. I would be afraid someone might remember the serial child sexual abuse that has been enjoyed by the Priests for these many years and covered up by the same Church that is now taking up the anti-abortion cause.

- Churches enjoy tax-exempt status in exchange for not engaging in political activity. Once they cross that line, the IRS can revoke that status. I think as churches get more and more involved in politics that sooner or later someone in Congress will call for the IRS to get involved, but we may have to start complaining to our representatives to do this. Government employees, particularly at the IRS, are not allowed to be politically active at work nor get involved in any political activity that results in undue attention unbecoming to a nonpartisan job. They would be happy to nail some churches on the tax-exempt issue.

- Stupid as any other one-issue voter, including gun nuts, or whatever. You vote for the good of the country, not for yourself.
The amazing thing is, Christians have a wonderful example every day of the evils of faith: Muslims. But it doesn''t make them think; it doesn''t shame them into realizing that belief in some goofy antiquated idiocy is bad for you, bad for everyone.
Not to knock Muslims, particularly. They are no crazier than Christians, their beliefs are no more far-fetched. ALL religion is a pathetic product of willful ignorance and fear, and all religion is harmful. - Reply to this comment
- "Voting for a pro-abortion politician when a plausible pro-life alternative exists constitutes material cooperation with intrinsic evil..." blah, blah, blah.
No one is "pro-abortion" and it''s interesting the way the extremists are beginning to use this term, instead of "pro-choice". McBush did the same thing during one of the debates.
In terms of the Catholic Church, shouldn''t it lose its tax-free status in the US if it involves itself in politics like this?
Shouldn''t the IRS investigate? - Reply to this comment
