And look at what Va, tech, Miami, and B.C. has done since leaving the big east...nothing.

They have slunk down to the mediocrity of the ACC.

But you have forgotten about Rutgers, S. Fla, et al. They are on the way back. The bigeast is still better than a couple of other BCS conferences.

Gosh, this must be because God is mad at California voters for passing Prop 8. No? Well, you right-wing morons always take credit when "He" supposedly does something vengeful when gay rights move forward.

Our VT Hokies are in a downward spiral. Our loss to Miami last night pretty much guaranteed us a lame bowl game. And our star defensive coordinator is interviewing at Clemson today. Our future will be toast without him.

Skyline''''s are for less aged intestinal systems than mine - I always preferred Tommy''''s in LA anyway, never could get used to chili on spaghetti??!!

Skyline is awesome but yes, it does come with a price!

It should have read ,,,5-0 Baby,,5 out 8 teams in the conference going to bowl games, and being undefeated, not bad...

Posted by slim1h2o at 04:06 PM : Nov 14, 2008

West Virginia has carried the Big East on their back since Miami, Va Tech & BC left. Louisville has lost their luster & UCONN is one dimensional. I''m not sure I''d be thumping my chest....

The Bearcats might be closer to a BCS game than the Buckeyes! How''''s the Skyline treating you? I need a fix!

Yes controlled burns would help, but the odds are against it being allowed.
Next solution??

Posted by Questionnews

The other problem with "controlled" burns is that they all too often become "uncontrolled" burns.

I grew up in Santa Barbara and still have family there. My brother and his family were evacuated yesterday evening & are still trying to find out the status of their home. Someone who was still in the area after the evacuation informed him around 9 a.m. this morning that their home in Sycamore Canyon was the only one that was not burned down.

I''m a big Sue Grafton (crime author) fan - her house is in the evacuation warning area, so if you want to a face to the disaster say a little prayer for her, her family and the three cats.

Actually I think the Buckeyes would win by more than that!!!

SocialismSux - I see you''''re a football fan albeit OSU, oh well - I live in Cinci now so if I''''ll have to be sending my young''''un there in the future - can''''t afford USC. Anyway - I would have thought that football is an excellent example of evolution in progress. Every year the linemen get bigger and the receivers get faster and every year there seem to be more sons of football plyers out there. Obviously this is an example of the spiece **** footballus adapting to ever harder hits and stronger safeties.

There is no doubt they are a different team than the USC game. Pryor is really getting better & Beanie is back. If they played USC now it would be a totally different story.

Also, these fires were a natural process for hundreds of thousands of years. They burned every few years until humans decided that was inconvenient for them & that putting out all fires was a good thing to do without realizing that all your doing is allowing for great amounts of fuel to build up. Then you get real big fires. Unless you plan to poison the plants & defoliate California the fires will continue.

Easiest way to solve it, just pave it all. concrete does not burn!

No serious, control burns. Why is that such an incomprehensible belief?

Posted by au_fait at 03:27 PM : Nov 14, 2008

They used to do that here in Oregon for years until the militant environmentalists started suing the state to stop the practice. And they have succeeded. I can''t imagine that the militant environmentalists in California are any different. In addition local property owners also protested & sued to stop controlled burns and used such arguments as it creates poor air quality during the burn, the burnt landscape is an eyesore & complained of soil erosion on the hillsides. Yes controlled burns would help, but the odds are against it being allowed.
Next solution??

How do you plan to stop the 50 to 70 mph winds and a pyro with a lighter???

Ditto. Go Bucks. We get SC at home next year though, with a seasone Terrell Pryor at QB.

We need to finish out with solid victories this year again Illinois and Michigan though. First things first!

Illinois has always been scary--I think they kind of look past them because of the Michigan game looming.

10 Rose Bowl--like the old days.

Posted by easeup at 03:19 PM : Nov 14, 2008

Yup, that''s right do swap out where they play for the N.C. nowadays. I forgot.

But I do agree with wistful appeal of the "Old Days"
Man, they''re gone

Sorry, neither team should be vying for a National Championship.

Both teams are playing in the two worst BCS conferences in the country.

Ya gotta go thru Tx Tech and Texas 1st....

Posted by slim1h2o at 03:09 PM : Nov 14, 2008

The Rose Bowl is not the national championship this year. I just want a classic Big 10 vs. PAC 10 Rose Bowl--like the old days.
