If the auto manufacturers want money have them get it from Exxon mobile or any of the major oil companies that helped cause this mess making billions in profits quarterly they were the cause of many Americans downfall by sending the cost of everything out of reach .Let corporate America bail each other out, or go under like they are letting homeowners do while the banks refuse to work new deals with them.

It appears the ethically challenged Dodd is trying to force banks to do the same thing that Dodd and his cohorts did before ....

It is absolutely preposterous that Dodd or any other incumbant pol be pushing anyone to do anything ... the pitiful citizens should be pushing Dodd and all the other corrupt crooks out the door ...

Sad Sad

Definition of ''capitalism'' From Merriam-Webster
"An economic system in which the means of production and distribution are privately or corporately owned and development is proportionate to the accumulation and reinvestment of profits gained in a free market".
That means, if you can make money,(legally) good, if you don''t, you go out of business. We, as a country were built on this as one of our founding principles (sp). If a small business goes, the govt says so what, but if a big business goes, it "deserves a bailout". BS, all the way. The big get bigger and the small go away, or go broke, or both. Capitalism, no matter the size of the business, if the biz doesn''t create profit, or at least break even, SHOULD go away, it''s NOT up to the govt, our tax $s, to save those that have made bad, horrible decisions and investments. The banks made bad loans. The auto makers want all our vehicles to run on fossil fuels. They have had the tech and knowledge to change thier ways for YEARS, but they are more interested in profit and kickbacks from OPEC and the likes. It has only been since the mandate to reduce the impact on the environment that they at least pretend to care. I know that big co.s going away will hurt, but it''s nothing compared to all citizens getting raped. Banks need to make "good" loans, and the "big 3 auto makers" need to get their stuff together, not for their pockets, but for The Country. The top prob in the world is greed, although we have plenty of other probs.

Even Dems. news networks said no but Pelosi''s and Reid did anyway..
(CNN) -- General Motors, Ford, Chrysler and the United Auto Workers union are pouring millions of dollars into a lobbying campaign for a taxpayer bailout.

The money devoted to influence peddling in Washington would be better spent on improving quality and finding ways to reduce a bloated cost structure, but both management and UAW have decided that fleecing taxpayers is a better option.

A taxpayer bailout would be a terrible mistake. It would subsidize the shoddy management practices of the corporate bureaucrats at General Motors, Ford and Chrysler, and it would reward the intransigent union bosses who have made the synonymous with inflexible and anti-competitive work rules.

Perhaps most important, though, is that a bailout would be bad for the long-term health of the American auto industry. It would discriminate against the 113,000 Americans who have highly-coveted jobs building cars for Nissan, BMW and other auto companies that happen to be headquartered in other nations.

A bailout also would be bad for General Motors, Ford and Chrysler. The so-called Big Three desperately need to fundamentally restructure their practices. More specifically, the car companies need to endure some short-term pain in order to restore long-term viability. But that won''t happen if politicians raid the treasury.

Statement: "Democrats hunt for support for auto bailout."

Translation:

Part 1 - UAW (organized crime) is collecting from Obama and the Democrat party on the quid pro quo for their support over the last quarter century, now that those they own are in control of the White House and the Congress.

Part 2. - Obama, Pelosi and Reid are looking for political cover by pleading for bipartisan support to avoid backlash from taxpayers and voters after January 20th.

Congress knew exactly what they were passing when they wrote everything to suit Paulson in the bailout, no oversight, no recourse, no say what he did with the money. The fine outstanding democrats and republicans of our congress signed off on it, and now some of them say they didn''t know what all was in the bill? Talk about fine representation, but talk is just that , fine representation only exists at lobby dollar levels. What congress and Paulson are doing amounts to treason, nothing less.

Greed is eating America alive. All you pathetic Republican and Democratic party members are to blame for continuing to listen to the lies of both parties. For the last45 years they have taken turns lying to get the white house or a seat in congress, and you people kept right on buying the lies.Even before this election when they started this "bailout" they were telling lies, and you people bought it hook line and sinker. Then you marched your happy little a$$e$ to the polls, knowing what they were up to, and voted them right back in to finish the biggest rip off in world history.Despite warnings that the whole thing stunk, you believed one too many lies people. Now the only thing that can save this country is to remove every one of the greed mongers that have attacked the middle class, trying to eliminate it.We need to march on Washington with about 20 million middle class and lower class citizens and take back our country.Thomas Jefferson foresaw the need for citizens to be able to deal with threats to our country from within and stated so, this was reflected in the right to bear arms.Americans we are under attack from white collar , suit and tie terrorists, patriots unite before they call martial law on us, and we have no rights.

Nancy Pelosi%u2019s bailout attack speech on the House floor

PELOSI: When was the last time anyone ever asked you for $700 billion?

U.S. Congressman Mike Pence issued the following statement regarding the failure of the bailout bill today:

%u201CToday Congress took a stand for the American taxpayer and free markets. The American people rejected this corporate bailout and today the People%u2019s House did likewise.

%u201CIt is now imperative that Congress come together and develop a response to the crisis facing our financial markets that reflects the American people%u2019s belief in personal responsibility and fiscal discipline.

%u201CThere are alternatives to the massive federal bailout that Congress rejected. I look forward to working with my colleagues in both parties to develop a response to this crisis that puts taxpayers first and preserves the essential freedom of the American marketplace.%u201D

Democratic leaders in Congress said Tuesday they will push legislation next week to use the $700 billion Wall Street rescue fund to bail out Detroit auto makers, and President-elect Barack Obama ordered his transition team to look at ways to aid the car industry even before his inauguration.

Sounds good to me. The UAW is as bad as the BANKERS.

Now that the no good SOB Bankers have the money they want it all for them self. Should have never bail the SOB''s out. This is what you get, nothing. This why we should not bailout the car companies. We well get nothing and the big wigs will steal it all. Just like the SOB Bankers are going do.

The problem is, the plants in other countries are making money. Toyota is making money operating in the US. Careful how you define thieves.

Key point is Toyota - no UAW
