Police Say Ariz. Boy Confessed To Shooting Deaths Of Father And His Co-Worker
- What a sad day. there is way to much violence that kids are exposed to. I think something was going on in the home that turned a 8 year old into a killer. something very terrible had to happen to make a child snap. i think the father was right in educating his son about guns. very sad. 3 lifes destroyed. I don''t get how this is premeditated? he confessed that he planned it? also if his rights were not read and he did not know he had a right to an attorney or a family member they might not have a case at all.

- The gun loving father should be nominated for a Darwin Award.

- I find it noteworthy that one of the men killed was just renting a room with the family. I know a couple who rented out a room in their home to an acquaintance to help them pay the bills, and he abused their daughter for several years before they found out about it. It''s possible this guy was abusing the boy and that the boy blamed his father for letting it happen. 8-year-olds don''t normally kill, but when an 8-year-old has a gun, that would sure make him think he has an easy way to make his problems go away.

- Nothing said anything about the reputation of the father.. makes one wonder

- This is obviously a horrific catastrophe. No abuse, if any existed, substantiates killing your father%u2026 let alone an additional life. I was abused. However, I chose to overcome it and not make it an excuse in my life.
I have also had the misfortune of having a whacked out step kid in my home that beheaded his toys after hanging them.
These are the kinds of things that happen when you allow children to watch murders on TV and video games.
There are two questions here:
1. Did the boy think he was playing a video game where people never really die?
2. Did he have no conscience?
Retribution needs to be based on those two factors. - Reply to this comment

Indeed. Sick and wired society. 100 years ago this would have happened and no body outside the town would have heard it - Reply to this comment
- Very tragic - an obvious lesson here is NOT to allow guns in the hands of children, or to assume they can be trained to understand the ramifications at that age; though I think that goes for a large portion of the adult population as well. It''s time for America to grow out of it''s romantic fascination with guns - they add nothing to a civilized society.

- BEHIND CLOSED DOORS....I was a the same age as this 3rd grader, when my parents abused me,my mother put her cigarettes out on me and used me for a punching bag, no one outside that door knew how I lived, parents had guns and my mother shot my father in front of us kids. I was molested and beaten behind a pretty closed door.....Something happened to cause this little child to try and save his own life, how do you know that these two men weren''t doing something to this child???????? Church doors are pretty too, how many of you were shocked to find out how many children were being violated? Just because you don''t see what is happening in a home doesn''t mean it''s not........SOMETHING HAPPENED!!!!!!

- I don''t believe theres any way to charge an 8 yr old as an adult. I too would like to know what the boys relationship was like with both his mom and stepmom. There are so many different things that could have happened. What if his mom was jealous and told him to do this? Little minds are so fragile, I hope they get him help, not punishment.

I am not condoning trying this CHILD as an adult, he is a CHILD.
I was merely commenting on your comment about finding out the truth. We will never really know the TRUTH, we will get this child''s attorneys, and possibly other investigating parties, version of what happened. The victim will be on trial because he is not here to defned himself or deny the "facts" as presented by the defendant in this case. That''s not exactly the best way to get at the TRUTH! - Reply to this comment
- I haven''t heard yet.... Where was the step-mother when all of this happened?
I also DO NOT believe that this child should be tried as an adult! - Reply to this comment
- Who''''s truth? My grandmother always said that there are three sides to every story: your side, my side and the truth. We will never really know the TRUTH because only one party is still alive to swear to his version of the truth!!
One other old saying is "everyone has a opinion just like another part of their anatomy, and they all stink"! I cannot say candy-apple, if the truth will never be found out but I have faith that if the truth is possible to be discovered given time and effort by state bureau of investigation it will come to the light, this story has many twists, turns and mysteries, but one thing for sure, a 8 year olds future is at stake here and I for one do not agree with anyone who thinks this child deserves adult punishment, the bible has a interesting part to it, where a parent is responsible for a childs sins till they reach a certain age usually puberty, if I remember my bible reading, but a 8 year old is a child, still watching cartoons, living in ninja turtles, power rangers fantasies, to me the ones with the issues of their humanity are the ones who are out for this childs blood and ounce of flesh! - Reply to this comment
- Posted by rhs648: "...this kid should be treated as an adult."
People who think like rhs648 are the ones who really need to be locked up. They may not pull triggers that kill individuals, but their social philosophy is more destructive to our free nation than the (tragic) damage caused by this 8 year old boy.
I''m tellin ya, it may sound like his comments are fairly benign, but it''s those kind of people who easily have the same capacity to demand that women stay at home and obey their husbands, that *** are summarily executed, that non-whites are caste as second class citizens and that adulterous women are stoned to death, just like they are today in Afghanistan (even without the Taliban being in power.)
Anyone who thinks that FOR ANY REASON an 8 year old should be tried and treated as an adult in our current prison system (adult and juvenile) has the same capacity to do the above mentioned things and worse. - Reply to this comment
- One thing for sure this case will be debated, questioned, investigated, and only when all the real facts are out will any of us know the truth, we all are going on rumors, news reports that might or might not be accurate, just to early to tell, all I can do is pray for this young child, who is the real issue here, the deceased are in gods domain now, the living in ours!

- I don''''t care if the boy did it on purpose and there was no abuse...horrible as that would be, he still should not be tried as an adult! Are they crazy over there in Arizona? He is a little child and not capable of thinking as an adult (apparently, neither are the Arizona police) and that is why we have juvenile courts...duh!

Juvenile courts are not the solution to everything. Two people are dead. If this kid is guilty, he must pay a severe penalty. Age should be a factor, not a determinant. Without extenuating factors such as abuse, this kid should be treated as an adult. - Reply to this comment

- I really don''t think this 8 yr old should be tried as an adult. Being the mother of an 8 yr old boy myself, my son would never ever do or let alone think of doing something like this. Something is wrong with this picture. The boy must have been abused or something awful like that. I feel so sorry for him.
