Former Federal Reserve Chairman Tells House He Sees Flaw In The Free Market Model
- To make up for the trillions of dollars in theft that is ''on-going'', U.S. taxpayers are being treated to Henry Waxman and the rest of his pathetically Impotent House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform wagging their fingers at Alan Greenspan and SEC Chairman Christopher Cox and solemnly intoning ''you%u2019re bad, bad, boy''s, you little rascals you!'' Yeah, that''s going to make up for it all, isn''t it folks? And Greenspan''s answer for his criminally negligent case of ''head-up-b*tt'' is nothing short of stupefying in it''s audacity. Quote-"It''s a very difficult problem with respect to supervision and regulation." Uh huh, just exactly what supervision and regulation would this incompetent old fool be alluding to? As many underlings working for the Fed and SEC have already stated, every attempt to reign in the markets on virtually every front was systematically thwarted by people like him and Cox. Greenspan was ''partially wrong'' to think that certain financial instruments like credit default swaps didn''t need to be regulated? The hubris of this guy is mind-blowing!

- Our economy is hurting as a direct result of our dependence of foreign oil and it''s exorbitant cost. Every area of consumer spending is taking a hit as production and shipping costs reflect the exorbitant cost of gas. Jobs and homes are being lost at a record rate as families have to cut back. There is little left over after filling the family car for work and spending more on groceries, electric bills. We need to utilize natural energy sources such as wind and solar and expand our knowledge and use of technologies such as hybrid and plug in cars. We need a Manhattan Project of 2009 and author Jeff Wilson has written one in his newly released book.

- This is what deregulation does. We also need to blame the rating agencies. I read that they were neglegent in giving out ratings that were not appropriate. America needs to get back to ethical behavior. If we don''t we will not continue to be one of the world super powers. This is just sad.

Democrats Refused Bush? There problem here is that you''re trying to rewrite history the rest of us have lived through. Bush had his way for 6 years, at least. That''s why we''re in the mess we''re in. Period. - Reply to this comment
- If, mind you, the subject of the current financial debacle were a common small business owner or an everyday citizen, instead of a multi million dollar banker, the ******* IRS would be on him as if he flew an airplane into the world trade center. THAT''S RIGHT, TELL ME WHO, WHICH GROUP HAS CAUSED THE MOST DAMAGE.... THE SAME WATCH COMMANDER WAS ON DUTY.

- regardless of whodunit, re electing the same idiots that let it happen , then gave 700 billion to the same idiots who made the bad loans, with no oversight or repercussions, and trust that these same people will do whats right this time?.... HELLO...We might have been born at night ..but it wasn''t last night people. Its hard to believe that party line voters from both sides of the isle will continue to give support to the criminals who have robbed our great -great grandchildren blind, sent our husbands , wives , sons , and daughters to die in a war that was a lie .Yes, it was G.W.''s war, but every single member of congress approved it, so they are just as much to blame if not more for even going along and voting for it.Regardless what anyone says the war has cost us money, lives, respectability, our economy, and was all based on a lie.A lie that has put millions of dollars into bushes pocket via the Carlyle group , who controls 85 % of the pentagons "private security budget". this budget was bolstered the weekend congress passed the bailout , in a closed door session where congress gave Carlyle group authority over 85% of another 488 billion dollars just for next year. You might say congress made sure Bush got his golden parachute before he leaves office.
