Industrial Sized Grow Sites Are Destroying The Environment In America's Parks And Forests
- "Maybe in desolate outdoor prison camps in Nevada."
Not so fast:
This past Friday, three researchers doing work for the Federal Government were briefly held by marijuana growers in Northern Nevada. The researchers were lucky the marijuana growers let them go alive. When the authorities went looking for these growers, they were long gone. They were identified as Mexican marijauna growers; only one spoke English.
Sure, these illegal immigrant growers, no matter where they are from, deserve to be locked-up: But, it just goes to prove that desolate areas in the West aren''t so desolate anymore, when it comes to dealing with potentially violent criminals growing an illegal cash crop. - Reply to this comment
- Why can''t we go back to the paraquat? If I remember correctly paraquat even got rid of some of the consumers. Win win.

- If you think the Blacks have ruined this country,
you ain''t seen nothin yet. Americans have no one
to blame but themselves. Same thing is true of the
mortgage crisis. We''re about 40 years late in dealing
with the problem of illegal immigration. Live with it.
Because as all the hispanics say, so proudly, ''We''re
here forever''. - Reply to this comment
- First let me say that the devastating cut in budgeting for our national parks system by Reagan and the two Bushes is directly to blame for our inability to manage the huge amount of real estate held in trust for American citizens. Reagan never requested a dime for acquisition of lands for national parks, and none of these guys felt the parks were a budget priority. While introducting user fees that have steadily risen to pricey levels, these guys have provided very little support for maintaining the parks'' infrastructures. Besides the quarter million square miles of wilderness and national park lands supposedly protected, the United States'' 388 national parks contain more than 18,000 permanent structures, 8,000 miles of roads, 1,800 bridges and tunnels, 4,400 housing units, 700 water and wastewater systems, 400 dams, and 200 solid-waste operations that have to be maintained. Republicans have shown very little support for lands that are off-limits to commercial development. And while I am not a big fan of pot smokers, it is an endemic practice here in the U.S., and it is "high" time it was legalized and REGULATED. Quit providing drug revenues to ruthless criminals, allow commercial farms, TAX the product, and treat it like tobacco- discourage it''s use, but allow it just like you allow people to knowingly ingest the poisons of tobacco and alcohol. Same penalties for driving under the influence.

- Make growing pot legal and the American pot grower will out do any illegal operations while protecting the land and water. People who are sick can get this product from the American grower, that way we reduce law enforcement cost, increase the income of the country, and help those who are sick. Time to change these drug laws so that we are not wasting money and time. The government lost the drug war long ago just like when they outlawed booze. Time for the government to stop *** up America and do the right thing, do what the majority want, a change in the law. It does not have the support of the people and you in government know this is true. You know your lies about pot will not work on the educated Americans. I don''t want Mexicans coming into my country, our country and growing pot when I know for a fact Americans can grow the best and export it to other countries. After all this law violated the U.S. Constitutional rights to herbs provided by God. We all know this to be true and government lying will not change the truth.

Exactly!
And now, they have their sights set on the Truly American neighborhoods now.
I can hear it now! Coming to a neghborhood theater near you!

- "Illegals do the work that Americans won''t do", which in this case, is to destroy our forests.
Correct, and unfortunately, they have also been destroying the Southwest deserts for quite a while, often leaving behind litter, human waste, and occasionally, dead people. It''s not safe to visit the parks and desert lands near the Mexican border anymore. - Reply to this comment
- "The illegal immigrant does the work that Americans wouldn"t dream of doing."

Well, the American family unit renders nickel and dime jobs impossible to LIVE on.
A population of 100 million in such a tiny area of land (compared to our 300 million in our large area of land) and they''re good at breeding. Whole families will do the work and happily live in a shoe box.
What''s going on is exploitation - of everybody.
I recall Bill O"Reilly asking the president of Mexico, Vincente Fox, asking why - with all of their resources and oil - Mexico''s government won''t let its working citizens live a decent life.
As stated: Exploitation.
The issue is a multi-faceted one, and I am not sufficiently "liberal" to ignore various aspects to it. - Reply to this comment

Apparently you don''t like the wording of the statement?
Try this out for size then,
"Illegals do the work that Americans won''t do", which in this case, is to destroy our forests.
Like I have said, they are going to bring us down to their standards if we don''t get rid of them, one way or another. - Reply to this comment

I don"t know, those landscaping jobs don"t look that hard.
It might actually be healthful to walk around our neighborhood with those leaf blowers.
It"s those Chinese coal mine workers who are doing a job I wouldn"t dream of doing. - Reply to this comment
- The problem of growing marijuana on Federal land is
similar to the illegal immigration problem: It''s
not just affecting the border states with Mexico anymore, it''s spread nationwide. - Reply to this comment

- Why legalize pot, if they can just get a can of bug spray and find a way to smoke that?

That''s a silly statement. I wouldn''t do that, unless I was on legal drugs from big Pharma......
Then I would think it normal. - Reply to this comment
- Funniest thing though is the truth behind this statement:
"I''ve seen the pesticide residue on the plants," Foy said. "You ain''t just smoking pot, bud. You''re smoking some heavy-duty pesticides from Mexico."
Why legalize pot, if they can just get a can of bug spray and find a way to smoke that? - Reply to this comment
- Finally, the following statement is true.
The illegal immigrant does the work that Americans wouldn''''t dream of doing.
That''s how that should look in my 1st post.
Sorry, it''s early yet. - Reply to this comment
- Finally, the following statement is true.
The illegal immigrant does the work that wouldn''t dream of doing.
And of course they''re Mexicans too, ooops, I shouldn''t say that because it might offend them.
After all, we all know what kind of upstanding citizens they are.
Just too bad for our forests,, Right?
It''s time for the legalisation of pot, and to seal the borders. Before they turn this country into wasteland, like they''ve done to they''re own country. - Reply to this comment
- The thing is though, the immense sensation that males get from being inebriated from smoking pot is not something they are going to just give up for the -''who really even cares'' -environment.
So therefore the non partaking general public is who is carrying the emotional burden of this tolerated emotional addiction/abuse.
Kinda like an abusive parent/child relationship. They consider this feeling their natural right. They are raised in a way where they are the total controllers and that their satisfaction is imperative on every level. - Reply to this comment

Seriously, people who light up a joint often have no ideas of any kind afterwards. - Reply to this comment
