Comments on: As Lehman Collapsed, Execs Were Rewarded
Failed Bank's Managers Received Bonuses While Pleading For Federal Aid, Documents Reveal
- This poor CEO only made $350 Million, not $440 Million.
Under McCain''s plan, he would get a massive tax cut, after swindling thousands with bogus mortgages.
Have some sympathy on the guy, he has to downsize like the rest of us. Only half a dozen or so gigantic palaces!
It''s clear that to McCain, Joe Six-Pack is just a tax cow to be milked until dry, so that wealth can be spread to jerks like this guy. - Reply to this comment

- We the people, should demand it! We need to remind congress who they work for and it''''s not the top 1% of the wealthiest of Americans.

Again you make a great point. The top 1% speak with their money and congress listens. Congressmen would rather hob nob with people who can do things for them. The rest of us are just pawns. Throw us a bone and we are happy appears to be their attitude. - Reply to this comment
- The recent 700 billion dollar bailout of the failed financial and banking industry illustrates that our congress only serves the top 1% of the very elite of American citizens. With the bailout they secure future lobby dollars and the middle class will become the serfdom of a national debt. Both the republican and democratic parties are engaged in an uncivil war of politics of petty party power differences and ignore the small people, the constituents they are supposed to represent. In September 2008 159,000 jobs are no more and a deep recession has arrived with more jobs sure to fade. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stated the bill was required to "begin to shape the financial stability of our country and the economic security of our people." Too late, the die is cast; throwing more tax payer dollars into the abyss (national debt) will not ward off economic failure.

rhs648...I don''t give a ***** if he supports Jesus Christ. He is a greedy pig and should live the rest of his with huge boils on his arse. Corruption is not limited to the republicans, it''''''''s just that they are more identified with it. Anyone, no matter what party they belong to, should be allowed to get away with this kind of *********. I am a democrat and I support Obama but I also know there are people in my party that need to go away. I know, before any of you repubs say it, that you think Obama should lose. But if we can overcome the cheating that will take place he will win and maybe we can start to see some positive changes.

leftyintexas stated that Fuld is a republican. My post was to correct the record. You are correct that it doesn''''t matter which party these scum belong to when their greed destroys our economy. However, we should at least be factual and not let a mistatement about Fuld''s political affiliation become part of the public record. - Reply to this comment

- As unpopular as President Bush is, he asked congress several years ago to provide oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac. Congress refused. The two congressional chairpersons repeatedly rejected the need to reign in Freddy Mac and Fannie May. Nothing is likely to happen to them.

- When are we going to have hearings on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac''''s role in the financial crisis?
Contact your congressman and demand a hearing. Let''''s see which politicians really represent the American taxpayer and the middle class.
If congress won''''t do it, maybe some upstart lawyer will file a criminal suit against congress, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for the American taxpayer.

Hi talk2chief _ What we will probably have is a coverup instead of a real investigation. Congress failed miserably in their oversight of Fanni Mae, Freddy Mac, and our financial institutions. As unpopular as President Bush is, he asked congress several years ago to provide oversight of Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac. Congress refused. The two congressional chairpersons repeatedly rejected the need to reign in Freddy Mac and Fannie May. Nothing is likely to happen to them. - Reply to this comment

- This is exactly why I am so angry! These greedy ********* still have their Park Avenue townhouses, their summer homes in the Hamptons and their villas in the south of France plus fat bank accounts hidden away in banks in Europe while my wife and I lost our life savings and have to forget any chance of a few years of peace before we check out. We have nothing to leave our kids except for our house which is worth much less than it was a year or so ago. I''m not asking for anyone''s sympathy but I sure would like to see a little justice. And I just wonder how much of the 700 million these greedy basturds will steal. You can bet that with that much out there they won''t be able to resist.

- Fuld needs to be in an orange jumpsuit picking up cans along the ditch. His assets should be frozen and confiscated by the government. All other managers who took bonuses at Lehman need to be talking to a federal judge about how big a fine they pay and how many years they get to spend in jail.
All CEO''''s who are responsible for this financial meltdown need to be investigated by the FBI, the IRS, and the Justice Department after they get investigated by a Senate committee....

I agree with everything you said except the deregulation part. These CEOs were obviously greedy, short sighted, and perhaps dishonest. Did deregulation play a role in their activities? If so, please explain what was deregulated that enabled these people to do what they did. If anything, SEC rules have become stricter over the years. Perhaps congress was out to lunch when it came to their oversight duties. Note that neither Barney Franks nor Chris Dodd have been blamed or censored for their lack of oversight. - Reply to this comment

These CEO''s wanted deregulation then when deregulation happened their schemes went bust. Then the public gets stuck with the bill for $1 trillion. These CEO''s behind these insider payola schemes and senior level management are in desperate need of prosecution and jail. There is no excuse for not getting these greedy crooks into prison. American families need justice. Get all of them. CEO''s need the fear of god put into them. I am sick of their rip off schemes. It is economic terrorism. - Reply to this comment
- Fuld is a registered republicon. What do you expect?? You bushites out there....Are you happy you and your party did more to destroy this country than Bin Laben ever dreamed of? You terrorists!

Sorry! Do your research. Fuld has supported Democratic party causes and Democratic party presidential candidates for many years. He is not a Republican. Currently, Fuld is an Obama supporter. - These SOBs should be forced to pay back every penny they stole and put in prison for life so they won''t continue the insanity! It''s sickening that we bail out these SOBs while many are losing their homes, jobs, life savings and dignity. To "reward" a CEO for tanking his company and expect the taxpayers to pick up the bill is ludricious. Who''s going to bail me out if I go belly-up? Can you say "coporate Welfare"? This *** has got to stop now before we fall into another Great Depression!

- If these guys want some of the Bailout money then the government should say give us the names and how much these execs received in golden parachutes and get that money back before they can have any federal money. These folks only know one thing Im rich your not and get away with taking from the poor and only give to the rich.

- These executives are TRAITORS. Jail them on charges of TREASON. They have jeopardized the country in ways the ''terrorists'' could only hope to accomplish. What they are doing to the world ranks right up there with war crimes. ARREST THEM.

- txgrouch: "I like the idea. But welfare and foodstamps? They''''d just be getting ANOTHER free handout. No welfare, no food stamps. Let them FIND A JOB. With a criminal record. THAT should keep them suffering."
Well, my reasoning behind it is that these jerks could write and sell a book about their downfall and make another million. I want them to actually live on nothing more than a welfare income. Although the kill floor of a slaughter plant has its charm. I could be happy watching them wheeling out wheelbarrows full of chicken guts. - Reply to this comment
- Guys like this with a "Let Them Eat Cake " attitude should look at history and see what happened to the last person who said that.
