Remember that even if this is approved, the House must pass it as well. Don''t stop letting your voice be heard. Call your Congress member at (202) 224-3121, or send an email through either of these sites - www.votenobailout.org or www.visi.com/juan/congress

I wonder whether Government in the future will evolve to be more grassroots, the way States now have ballot initiatives which gives people a say on specific issues rather than limiting the voice of the people to voting only for politician one or politician two.

Not sure whether there''s some Constitutional impediment which has prevented any initiatives from making the Federal ballot, but assuming there is wouldn''t it be sweet if the first one to break down that barrier was on lowering salaries for Congress!

You already see that trend of really rich people running on the campaign promise to donate their salaries to charity, like with Michael Bloomberg and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Arnie''s popularity''s taken a hit but truth be told he''s done a great job and apparently so too has Bloomberg.

What would have to lose if we forced Congress'' salary to be equal to the country''s average? Is there really a danger we''d get a ''lower quality'' of politician? How would you define that exactly?

:(

Collectivized farming

100% of housing provided by the state

Mass public transportation only.

They had a good go at implementing it.
The latter two points, made their collapse not so bad, heaven knows how bad our prospective one will be, as we have neither of these in great amounts.

Again, you exaggerate a bit there. Mass transportation is available, and a lot of people do own cars. 100% public housing? Don''t think so. I lived there.

Remember, European countries are democracies, and the people there just happen to choose to have certain services provided by their tax money. Like I said, communist countries are dictatorships. There''s no real voting. There''s a HUGE difference.

Instead of wasting your "voice" in here, tell your senators and congressmen and women what you want.
