Comments on: Alaska Town Opens "Road To Nowhere"
But Without Bridge, $25 Million Gravel Road Good For Just Road Races And Hunting
- Alaska built a $25 million 3.2 mile gravel road with money taken from the U.S. Government.
In Florida one of the projects being planned will 6 lane 3.5 miles of Interstate 95. Estimated cost is 25 million dollars.
If we can 6 lane a heavily travelled interstate for 25 million why does it cost so much to build a gravel road "to nowhere" in Alaska.
I say follow the money, and see where it really went! - Reply to this comment
- "Come on, Alaska! How can you still be a RED state?!"
Since it''s populated by a bunch of uneducated, trailer trash red necks it will remain red. - Reply to this comment
- Governor Palin should be given the honor of being the first person to walk the Road To Nowhere since she is headed there anyway!

- dukono....It is quite likely that concrete and steel have gone up in price. But this is a gravel road. Did you miss that part of the story? There''s so much pork in this story that just reading it made me want some bacon. This woman is an opportunist and there is no doubt in my mind that she made a few bucks off this project. And it really pizzes me off that they used taxpayers money to build a place for redneck Alaskans to race their cars and shoot their guns when there are people all over the country who are doing without essentials because there is no funding available. This is a disgrace and an outrage. And I saw a report on tv that the frames for her glasses, just the frames, cost 600.00. And there are kids who can''t even get an eye exam, let alone glasses. This woman is a lying shill for the republican party with no care at all for her fellow citizens. If the Alaskan people love her so much she should go back where she came from and build herself a bigger igloo.

- The actual cost of the road was only $1M and the rest of the $24M money is in Palin''s purse. That is how she could afford all those expensive toys.

- I am tired of Palin lovers defending her. Face it, it is all true!!! You think CBS built this road to nowhere to report it to the American people? Palin is a liar from the start. McSane/Palin are headed nowhere.

- Maybe the reason things have doubled in the last few years is because of the REPUBLICANS running the show? How can democrats be responsible for the problems created under republican leadership? I think it''s more the REPUBLICANS ruining the economy then the democrats.

I guess maybe it''''s because 13,000 ppl could use a bridge Huh??? Or does that escape you?? The only reason this bridge costs so much is because prices have gone up because the Democrats have ruined OUR Economy......Steel and concrete prices have Doubled in last couple years...... - Reply to this comment

A fitting description of the road America is on. - Reply to this comment
- "If CBS keeps this one sided reporting up.There rating are going nowhere."
What are they supposed to do, lie about the truth to make Palin look good? She doesn''t seem to be very honest, and quite frankly neither does McCain - both are sorry examples for our children. - Reply to this comment
- Maybe we can send McCain/Palin down that Road to NoWhere soon.

- She was for it til word got out about this project. Palin''s speech, it''s worth noting that while she said "thanks, but no thanks" to the bridge, she didn''t have a problem keeping the money, and using it for a $25 million 3.2 mile gravel road. She is as crooked as her other Alaskan republican Teddy Stevens. All voters should be telling her "thanks, but no thanks", crazy b1+(h.
