For those of you far from the storms, count your blessings that you are not having to go through evacuations. I hope this time the folks from NO head north. We in Texas are willing to help our neighbors as much as we can but just the same fewer refuges would be great. I see on Google Maps that traffic flow on IH 10 from New Orleans to Houston to Austin is going a quick 25-40 miles an hour.
Remember being a kid on a road trip? "Mom or Daddy are we there yet?" The poor folks on the road!
God Speed to those on the roads and rails and buses.

Yeah, ALL you can do is spew your hatred of the Bush Administration. That FACT comes through quite clearly.

Typical Liberal response. Take NO RESPONSIBILITY when you can blame someone else.

If you are DUMB ENOUGH to stay in a city that IS BELOW SEA LEVEL and protected by levees that were designed for a CATEGORY 3 storm and a CATEGORY 3 storm is heading your way, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to get yourself out of harm''s way. If you insist on waiting for someone to bail you out, you DESERVE what you get. Nagin the ENTIRE Democrat machine in Louisiana FAILED, and they were the people''s FIRST LINE OF SUPPORT. Don''t spew me your inane drivel about the Government failing or Bush''s itinerary.

"It''''s one thing to support your party based upon its ideals. It''''s entirely another thing to spout lies and talking points when your party is so clearly in the wrong. This is the 21st Century and things are about to change."

You want to talk about LIES and TALKING POINTS? THAT is all you Democrats have. This is the 21st century and the BEST you can do is nominate a junior senator from Illinois with absolutely NO QUALIFICATIONS to be you candidate for president.

Tell me more about just how intelligent you dumbarses really are.

New orleans has been there a long time. Major hurricanes do not happen every three years. Should that city be there..no. but the real problem is with the fact that people just cannot get it through their heads that some places just should not be built on. Las vegas is a good example. was in that UGLY area about 5years ago. water warnings, people who have lived there all their lives leaving because they see the writting on the wall, keep bldg, keep draining lake mead..about 60 feet down 5 yrs ago. Then when it all dries up **** about it. Lake fronts, ocean fronts, quake lines, hillsides are all spots that will change as the years go by. we are doing it to ourselves and we will all have to pay. global changes are happening and we are partly at fault.

I know. Let''s build a city that''s below sea level, smack-dab in the center of hurricane-alley. What could possibly go wrong with that? Maybe having to rebuild the entire city every three years could be considered a minor glitch.

This time maybe the people will be smart enough not to go back. It''s time to really re-consider having a city there, at least in the areas below sea level. The only place below sea level that is seemingly safe from flooding is Death Valley and there isn''t any city even there. Have a commercial port and oil rig transit station that is not permanent and can evacuate easily. There is no reason to put thousands of peoples lives and billions of tax dollars at risk.

Demwatcher %u2013 so the actions of your own party are above reproach?

Though I agree with a lot of what you say, I do think you should be a little more honest than you have been in this pathetic attempt to pose as Singinrick.

Singinrick, and he in his various psuedonyms,to give him credit, does appear to believe in what he preachs, irregardless of how delusional that belief is.

GOD HAS BECOME A DEMOCRAT.

James Dobson Head of Focus on the Family, prayed that is would rain during the Thursday evening speech by Barack Obama. This vain example shows that the Religious right is no longer in the favor of GOD. Because GOD now has answered another prayer to send a Hurricane to disrupt the GOP convention. GOD is no longer seen as favoring the Religious right and has become a Democrat. Repent you Republicans repent. Ask GOD to forgive you for supporting George Bush. The Hurricane is his response to your misuse of his word. Repent.

Yes, regardless of where landfall occurs the place WILL have serious problems. The area affected by a hurricane is a couple hundred miles wide and the place that takes a direct hit isn''t much better off than if it was nuked. The energy contained in a hurricane actually is that astounding. That''s why you can''t "blow it up" or do anything to it. What would you do it with? The biggest fusion bombs ever made mess up an area a few tens of miles across at best. A poodle would have a better chance against a pit bull.

The way they rebuilt in the areas decimated by Katrina was not very wise. But not because the area cannot properly be protected - The Netherlands has contended with hurricane force North Sea storms and they fare quite well in the same types of areas. A number of years ago they wanted to collaborate with Louisiana and the feds to develop modern systems to protect low lying and below sea level areas. However, typical American arrogant attitudes prevailed ("Thanks, but we know better than you ''cos we''re the F''n U.Gdmn S.") and as a result the Dutch are sitting fine, the Gulf Coast was destroyed, and the U.S. taxpayers end up raked over the coals.

After Katrina hit, the area was repaired, not rebuilt, using 19th century technology. God help them. I''d rather not.

BLACKSHAFT- So because "Change" is often associated with the "Winds of Change"... and because Barack Obama promises change... and because hurricanes have wind, we shouldn''t vote for Obama?

Got it.

P.S. What does the fact that his middle name is "Hussein" have to do with anything? My name is Mike. Am I responsible for the actions of everyone in the world named "Mike"?

The Republican Party needs to quit being so damned ridiculous.

"BTW, Katrina was a failure of government, not just one party. The Democratic government in the region didn''''t take the hurricane seriously enough when it was coming, and the Republican government (Republic Government?) in DC didn''''t take the catastrophe seriously enough after it happened. Plenty of blame to go around, and it''''s not just Democrats who are determined to avoid a repeat. The Republicans are just as aware of their screw-ups and are on their best behavior.

Katrina was a failure FIRST AND FOREMOST of the people of New Orleans, the city government, and state officials. The people for NOT using the brains they were born with to get out of the was (they had PLENTY of warning), the city for not using every available resource to aid those that would not or could not leave, and the state for not making sure the in-place emergency plans were followed.

The response by the US government was doomed to failure from the beginning because of the failure ALL THE WAY down the line.

The CHANGE
We need the winds of CHANGE! Just for a few good examples we had Katrina. It left the people in New Orleans happy and loved? The winds of CHANGE left them homeless and distraught, a good thing right? The winds of CHANGE brought economic disaster, where the people suffered hardships unimaginable to the average person! The winds of CHANGE WAS STRONG IN ITS INFLUENCE in the lives of these individuals! The winds of CHANGE stood tall when it hit! The winds of CHANGE WERE STRONG IN ITS APPROACH! The winds of CHANGE could not be reversed once it struck! The winds of CHANGE have left devastation for years to come! Yes I can see why we need a CHANGE for a wind that we know does not know where it will hit! Or what it will do! Or where it will go! All we know is the winds of CHANGE IS ALWAYS PRESENT BUT NOT MOVING UNTIL IT HITS without warning! Oh if we could only stop it!

Should we allow Barack Hussein Obama to CHANGE us with his wind?
NO and NO again!

And notice how this time, the stupid Dems in NOLA are actually USING the plans that are in place, rather than ignore them like they did in Katrina? [...] The plans are there, have been for years. Now we know that all the blame lies squarely on the Democrat politicains of LA.

Dude, it''s DemocratIC. Seriously. What does this kind of sneering rhetoric accomplish? You sound like a schoolyard bully. Don''t you think you should''ve left that kind of *** behind after the sixth grade? Republicans, grow up. This kind of partisan name-calling hackery (like your nickname) is soon to be obsolete, as you''ll see during the upcoming Obama Administration.
