They are huh. Who''s paying for the busses to get them all to "safety"? Who''s paying for five years of the Corps of Engineers to REBUILD THE ENTIRE LEVEE SYSTEM?
Who''s paying for all the NEW FEMA trailers to replace the OLD FEMA trailers? Who''s paying for all the hotel rooms, motel rooms and meals for the thousands of people that will be needing this assistance for the next three years after Gustav hits? I got news for ya. They ain''t doing nothing without Big Brother. - Reply to this comment
- RE "those dumb enough to live in an area that is below sea level"etc/ Etc.
Puget Sound, (Seattle and Tacoma and several other cities) is on a earth quake fault AND most would be wiped out in an eruption of the volcano known as Mt. Raineer. Portland Oregon is in the same fix, on a fault line and has several volcanoes near it. (They no longer say a volcano is extinct just because it has not erupted in 50 years.)
Let''s see, ALL of America from Canada to the Gulf and from the Appalachians to the Rockies is in danger of being flattened by tornados and/or floods.
Let''s see, Hurricanes hit the US coastal states from Maine to Florida to Texas and in between.
Let''s see, The Potomac, Hudson, Mississippi, Ohio, Platte (North and South) Colorado, Rio Grande, Columbia and MANY MORE rivers flood disasterously.
FACT... Review the history of humans. They gather to live where there is water. Forrest. Plains. Mountains. These provide water, vegetation and animals.
But where there is water there is natural disaster.
YOU. YOU are "dumb enough" to live in such a place.
But no body will study history.
Like the TV ad for Devry
iversity"said, "Here I am studying the past! While my brother went to Devry and got a GOOD job!"
Only idiots study history. The rest of us gather in Seattle, New york, L.A., Chicago, or on a great farm or by a tourist lake and rakwe in the bucks.

- hmmmm...and I thought this was an article about an impending weather disaster and here we go again...the cynics, the racists and political naysayers and one eyed monsters that prevail in here and see anonymous blogs as a platform to spout inanities and diatribe. No wonder the USA is going down the spout. Thank heavens I can sit in Australia and count my blessings each day.

- If those levees break again and the city floods, they better let that New Orleans rot and become a complete wasteland. I don''t want my tax dollars paying to cleanup a city that will constantly be destroyed.

- It''s bcause last time New Oleans had a welfare state mentality, expected Big Brother to take care of them.

- People complained about the Federal response last time.
It was thier lack of response, and they were depending on Big Brother to bail them out.
This time "they" are ready, without Big Brother.
Darwin at work here, good to see that they are all stepping up.

- Hmmmm, wonder why hurricanes seem to prefer areas where the INBREEDING levels are out of control & stupid, ignorant politicians reside? Coincidence? Chance? Divine intervention? Look what happened in Florida for the 1st time, imagine if this happens with Gustav. New Orleans is gone whether we want it or not, nature is speaking and we are too busy being immersed in our own self-illusionary dominion to listen. Your god IS speaking to you, he is saying NO.

- Senior officials in Louisiana%u2019s emergency planning agency already were awaiting trial over allegations stemming from a federal investigation into waste, mismanagement and missing funds when Hurricane Katrina struck.
And federal auditors are still trying to track as much as $60 million in unaccounted for funds that were funneled to the state from the Federal Emergency Management Agency dating back to 1998.

- people can head north, but you southerners have blood too thin to withstand our weather! Plus while you have to evacuate, which is awful, we must stay here and suddenly go through higher prices, such as oil[heating] as winter approaches. there will be no free ride for any of us outside of the hurricanes immediate path.
