The only reason, "IF" he is actually doing something is he got away with killing all those people last time this time it won''t look like a mistake and people will want Bush''s head - Reply to this comment
- This will present an interesting opportunity to compare the effectiveness of democrat and republican administrations. During Katrina, Louisiana had a democrat governor and we know what happened. Now Louisiana has a republican governor.Posted by twixcon

This was a federal problem.Bush knew 3 days ahead of time those levees would not hold and he told the Fema director to quit being melodramatic. Bush knew a bunch of blacks would die and as for the dead white people he figured "oh well''just collateral damage".
This was a pure act of genocide on the part of a republican administration. Don''t even try to blame a governor that had no power to get GW and hid merry band of murderers to act on this disaster. - Reply to this comment

Of course, lame it on Mayor Nagin is still there and ready with excuses, whining about how its a Federal problem. My bet...Nagin hasn''t done squat in his baliwick, but Louisiana as a whole fares better with a republican at the helm.
Obama will try to blame it all on McCain even though his democrat party has controlled the government for nearly 2 yrs.
Maybe I''m wrong, but I doubt it. - Reply to this comment

- If the hurricane hits N.O. Monday, by Tuesday the helicopters will be filming 10,000 people "trapped" on the roof of their homes yelling, "Feed me. I ain''''t got nothin'''' to eat." And by Wednesday, the same helicopters will be filming the hoards of looters wading into stores to steal boom-boxes and clothes.

And at the same time, bitter nasty people will be sitting at home on their pcs pounding out their hatred on blogs. They don''t have any interest in the victims or the storm, only venting their mounting hatred because their lives are so pathetic and bleak they cannot find anything else to do. Poor Sistatee, and those like them, are trapped in a cycle of never ending bitterness. We can only hope that they will one day find their way out of it, and perhaps a bit of pity and compassion for whatever makes them so angry and nasty is called for. - Reply to this comment

- People should live wherever they want, as long as the accept the consequences for their decisions themselves. If you want to live in a flood plain, fine, pay the high premiums for flood insurance and if your house floods you get reimbursed for the value of your home. But please, don''t build there and expect ME to cover your loss when your house washes away. That''s what bothers me; the failure to tie responsibility with authority. Live in N.O. if you desire, but bail YOURSELF OUT when the ***** hits the fan there. Never happen.

- I am NOT GOP_FOREVER KnurlGrip, anyone GOP or Republican for you acronym-challenged folks, uses words in monosyllabics or at best two syllables because it cuts down on spelling errors. Hence the use of non-standard English of the four letter vernacular. Don''t get me wrong, I do believe in a High Power, just not the christian mythological type.

- If those levees break again and the city floods, they better let that New Orleans rot and become a complete wasteland. I don''''''''t want my tax dollars paying to cleanup a city that will constantly be destroyed.

Time to do the same with Florida.

- I lost my home and all my belongings in Katrina, but I was safe because I evacuated when ordered to. I sat and watched over the next few days at the rescue efforts, and although my heart went out to many of them, there were some that I very much resented because they knew better. Nagin has said that emergency services won''t be offered to those to choose to stay behind. Of course, I know that if someone is injured or ill, whomever can do something will try to do so, but I suggest that when such people are treated and waste taxpayer''s money, that it go on a criminal record. I''m tired of subsidizing idiots, and a lot of my tax money went to helping people who made bad decisions. The people who stayed behind during Katrina caused a lot of problems. People need to leave. And vandals and looters need to be shot on sight. That''s just how I feel, practical or not. I was there before.

- The reality of Iraq on our disaster preparedness and the national guard
"Separately, the Louisiana National Guard has requested 20 aircraft from eight states, in an apparent response to Louisiana''s 20 UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters being in Iraq. National Guards in the 54 states and territories have mutual-aid agreements in place to send troops and equipment to other states during disasters. Through such agreements, more than 50,000 Guard members converged on the region following
Hurricane Katrina." - Reply to this comment
- Isn''t that exactly what they said last time KnurlGrip?

Pretty much.
But we do in fact live in the very best, most capable, most efficient, most responsible, most intelligent country that Earth itself has ever seen! Don''t we?
After all, CBS, ABC, CNN and especially Fox News will report that "Everything that can possibly be done, is being done by the Federal Government". - Reply to this comment

- I feel sorry for the residents of louisianna and others in the path of gustav, cuz we all know our **** poor sorry low-life excuse for a national government isnt gonna do a *** thing for them except give them empty promises, and be the lying ba**ards that we all know that politicians are. The government is already making a killing off of the storm. Has everybody noticed the increase in gas prices from a week ago. Ohhhh....i forgot. Hang on!!! Its a holiday weekend....that makes it even worse on the american people. The gas companys have to gouge us for the holidays. The american way. Im telling yall, after its over with, said and done, the governments same greed that took the indians land away from them, is gonna give it back because they are leading this country into the ground. At least the indians know how to take care of their people, right? US government needs to take some lessons from the indians, right? When it happens, im just gonna sit back and chuckle, and just say that its all "POETIC JUSTICE". w and his vampire friends in washington aint nothin but pure evil, running around searching for more ways to suck more money out of the american people. they call it lobbyist. I would say bribery, but we all know that if its over $500 dollars and your bribing a government official, the name changes to lobbyist and then it turns legal...LOL!!! The american way, bygod !!!!

- hmmmm...and I thought this was an article about an impending weather disaster and here we go again...the cynics, the racists and political naysayers and one eyed monsters that prevail in here and see anonymous blogs as a platform to spout inanities and diatribe. No wonder the USA is going down the spout. Thank heavens I can sit in Australia and count my blessings each day.

I wish I could disagree, but I can''t.
The claim to fame for America was Hitler, WWII, and Stalin. Now that the rest of the world is functioning, this place will nosedive. Why? Religious discrimination, lack of education, and polarization in general.
On this blog everyone is either virulent democrat or republican. No gray area, despite that most of the world is somewhere in between. The "Christian" posts are actually as radically messed up as anything that Al Qaeda says. Clearly not based on the teachings of Jesus Christ.
This country is losing it everywhere. Internet traffic is passing it by. GM and Ford want $50 billion from The Feds to save their skins because Toyota and Honda are putting them them in the morgue. The feds are borrowing from China to finance the deficit.
And you want to go "Blah, Blah, Blah!" about the hurricane. No, the real hurricane isn''t about weather.
The U.S. Certainly the best place in the world? - Reply to this comment
