No matter what the justice system says, his friends and neighbors will always know him as "that sicko".
And when he applies for a job, and the criminal record shows up, employers will avoid him like the plague. - Reply to this comment

It''s obvious that that the cat was obtained for a pet and not for food. Killing without justifiable reason is wrong. And forcing this sickness on others is a violation of their rights.
Taking him away from the kids, benefits the kids.

To post such a comment here proves you are very SICK and have a seriously impaired conscience. Please get help !
Don''t you understand there are other sickos out there, as well as impressionable young people, who may think it''s "kewl" to try out your hideous suggestions ? Is this what you want ??
I know you may just be trying to "get attention" but this is a completely unacceptable way to do it. Animal cruelty is a felony! - Reply to this comment

WHY do you a-holes have to make everything a matter of Democrat or Republican? The guy is just a worthless flake, politics has NOTHING to do with it. Get over yourself, dude. - Reply to this comment
- And that wasn''''t a heavy handed sentence ... lochlan .. what are you, a sicko too?
I guess so. I grew up on a farm and killed many animals, (rabbits, ducks, turkeys, etc.). I''ve also murdered many innocent creatures for no reason at all except that they annoyed me (mosquitos, spiders, snakes). We call you people supermarket society, since you believe the chicken you eat and the chicken on the farm are two different things. It would have been interesting to see you people and your views any time other than the last hundred years. Killing the kids cat is more cruel (personal opinion) and antisocial. But not worth a year away from his kids though. You people just keep on pushing for that police state though. - Reply to this comment
"...forced to speak to school children about his horrible act..."
yeah let''s just say that to 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 year olds ....
I don''t think you really meant to suggest that did you? Arlvabear??- Reply to this comment
- The headline is all wrong. Who decided that the cat killing was the main issue of this story? Does it cost too much to print, "Dad gets jail time for forcing kids to stab cat?"
And that wasn''t a heavy handed sentence ... lochlan .. what are you, a sicko too? - Reply to this comment
- Quite excessive. What the judicial system has done to this girl will give her one frieghtening look at the reality of our new police state and instill the quality of fear our government desire from its citizens. Education on social conformity and acceptable parenting would have been plenty, with a signed release from his therapist.
Hopefully he apealls and gets a judge with a less heavy hand, now that the sensationalism has made its point for the media. - Reply to this comment

- Why can''t we enact legislation for placing such sadistic beasts as this pet-killer, into a "head-twistoff" device so his separated head can never command his body to carry out additional harmful acts?

- He has to be a Democrat. No Republican could be this depraved.

98.99% probability he is Republican. Republicans believe in and love torture. www.armchairsubversive.com - Reply to this comment
- This sicko was intoxicated and can''t even remember doing this? it could just have easily been him making one of his kids stab the other to death--so they could learn how to kill. Forget parenting classes. This man should not be allowed near his children or animals--even when he gets out--this is one of those moments of clarity, when we can see on the horizon an even larger tragedy for this man and his kids--if he ever is allowed to continue a relationship with them.

- Sick. Why only 18 months? You don''t need the kids to testify against their dad to get more. The judicial system is too kind to some while being overly punitive to others. If lawyers exist to make sure defendants get a "fair" trial, how can disparities like this exist?

- That dude needs taken out and horse whipped. That child is traumatized the rest of her life(plus he killed a cat)She will have to go through countless hours of therapy, probably at tax payer''s expense.Hope they stomp mud out of his arse in jail.Eighteen months isn''t much time for this.

- Killing the cat is bad enough but the reason makes me sick. He wanted to "teach them how to kill". This guy is really sick

- Why didn''t he kill himself then.
I have doubts this is the first and only abusive act he did while drunk. - Reply to this comment
- Actually this fits, perfectly, within my definiton of ''child abuse'' & deserves a sentence compatible with the damage he inflicted on his children. Unfortunately, as an ''enlightened'' society, we only give convicted felons in non capital crimes a ''time out'' before they are released to resume their miserable lives & inflict their fecal behaviour on some other innocent victim.

- I''m no fan of cats but I would never think of doing something so hideous and I hate people who are cruel to animals. Along with that, this guy is extremely stupid. What kind of father thinks he needs to show his kids how to kill? He should have gotten 18 years. What is society coming to?
