As unimaginably sick and cruel as this story is, it''s equally as sick to read some reader reactions -- like imagining that liberal judges are complicit. What normal mind could read that story and immediately translate it into hatred for liberals? Another cat killer? If anything, liberals fight the hardest against animal abuse and are responsible for the laws that make it a criminal offense to abuse animals -- including the human ones.

Not at all. All of the damage was done by the father. Hopefully the two children will learn from their father''s incarceration that his behavior was criminal and totally unacceptable. Otherwise, it is likely they would have grown up to be just like him.

The punishment is not harsh enough !!

Her father is the one who committed the outrageous, abusive act. Making HER kill her beloved pet!?! This is alot different from watching violence on TV, although I agree there is too much of it.

I hope the father has to go through a long probationary period after he gets out of jail, where he is not allowed to have unsupervised visits with his children.

I couldn''t agree more. What the government has done to this girl is cruel and abuse. She now completly understands who has the ability to hurt her and to what extent, whenever they feel. The girl is seven years old, and chances are she''s seen much worse on television. In case you''ve fallen out of touch, kids are getting busted now in sixth grade for having *** in class. We don''t raise our children anymore, they are more the property of the government these days, to be put in the system and taught the rules and contadictions of society to family. This person will kill again, using alcohol as an excuse "I don''t remember" doesn''t work. Anyone who will kill a helpless pet animal deserves to go to jail. Especially if it is done against a cat. Cats are very independent and uncontrolable. They are disliked for this reason by people. There was more to this in his mind than just murdering the family pet.

I hope he gets what he deserves in jail. Many of those incarcerated would love to be at home with their children and pets. This despicable person deserves to be strangled himself, and the person should say, "gee, I was drunk and don''t remember doing it."

If anyone ever hurt any of my cats, I would kill them. And plead not guilty, self defense!
