I''''m retired from the Army. Do to family problems I only completed the 9th grade, got my GED on my own, did some community college, joined the Army, retired from the Army as an officer with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Posted by stevenga777

You are to be applauded, sir. But I don''t think there are many with your drive among the Generation X and later crowds.

How about World War II and Nazi aggression? How about the soldier who defends your right to spout ignorant and politically motivated rubbish without the fear of reprisal. He may not agree with you and your ***, but he swore an oath to defend it. MORON!

If the dropouts won''t join, the recruits can always just threaten them with punishment.

That seems to be the method preferred by the some of the struggling recruiters nowadays. Lie, threaten, coerce, and pressure anyone into joining by any means necessary. If they decide they''re not interested just lie to them and tell them they will go to jail for being AWOL.

The next step, although I suspect it has been already been taken, is a tactic from the later part of the Vietnam War... judges sentencing people to the Army or jail time for petty offences... they called it giving them a choice. I''d say about a quarter of the people I went to basic training with from NYC were sentenced to the Army. They were a fun crowd, but lousy soldiers.

"There''s no jobs out there, nothing. It''s just horrible. And it got hard just trying to support myself and go to school at the same time," Holden said.

Another problem I have with Republicans...they like to have wars to profit from and/or to gain control of the world''s resources, but they don''t like to fight them personally.

What is their motivation to fix inequitable "free trade" and "trickle down" economics, when it is making them rich?

Especially when it might reduce their pool of volunteer "policy deployment tools"?

When will be able to end the exploitation of these underprivilaged kids by demanding that ALL (RICH, poor, and middle class) kids be required for Universal Service to our country? Enough of the classist, crooked system that now exists to exploit the poor and undereducated, who are used as throwaways, much like the suicide bombers of our enemies.
