But overall I am proud I served and the relationships and experience I gained have been invaluable.

I can agree whole heartedly. I experienced many things that I wouldn''t want to repeat. But, I''m very proud that I served and I learned things and had opportunites that never would have happened.

we can thank Mr. Jimmy Carter for the amnesty business.

I had forgotten how that came about. Now we know what Jimmy Carter did that constituted CHANGE. I think it is very interesting how Obama is running on the same slogan that Jimmy Carter ran on. Do all the libs have short memories? They somehow think that Obama made that slogan up.

I was absolutely shocked when the deserters to Canada where "forgiven," and given amnesty BEFORE the men who answered the call to serve were "forgiven."

We should have an agreement with those two Countries that anyone dodging service should be sent back as soon as it could be done.

When I turned 18, 40 years ago, I really believed then, as I do now, that everyone should serve. So even though there was no law that I had to serve, and no chance of me being drafted, I served in the Army for three years. So, when I say that eveyone should serve, I also included myself.

think that everyone should serve in the Military when they turn 18, if they are not in College. If in College then they should serve as soon as they get out of College.

Posted by hbevis

That could be true too, but none of this c r a p o l a about how you don''''t have to serve if your Daddy is in the Senate or some other lame excuse.

On the serving of our Country.... If we made it mandatory to serve a lot of the cry baby liberals would make a run and go to Canada or Mexico. We should have an agreement with those two Countries that anyone dodging service should be sent back as soon as it could be done.

Barak has chided McCain for being part of the establishment, so what does he call Biden?
Posted by minnick8

I was just reading yesterday that Biden admits that his net worth proves that he is not a millionaire. How could this guy serve as a senator for 30 years and NOT be a millionaire? That alone should make him unqualified to be VP. lol
Even the under-secretary at the Dept. of Agriculture is a millionaire...Dan Quayle became a millionaire. lol

So, back to the convention, and of course, there is Biden who has been in the Senate for the past 30 years. Isn''''t he part of the establishment? Barak has chided McCain for being part of the establishment, so what does he call Biden?

The Dems want to turn America into a socialist country. Obama is the most liberal, left wing, politican to run for the Presidency in the history of the U.S. I can''t belive the Dems are falling all over him. I don''t even think he is that cute.

Theres plenty of "Red Blooded" American Cowboy Conservatives that never serve. *** Chicken Hawks!

That is why I strongly believe that everyone who enjoys the American way of life should be required to serve for two years. It should be automatic. Turn 18, serve the country. There are different ways this could be done such as the Peace Corps, hospital volunteers, service in poor rual communities, or of course, the military.

Just my opinion, but I learned a long time ago not to put any faith in either party. They both promise everything to get elected and deliver only to their special interest groups.
Despite that, I love America!!! Anyone can make money in this country no matter which fool we elect.
So let them have their conventions and parties as long as they leave the rest of us alone.

I can''t stand to watch the Democrats at their convention. They have dragged Carter out and he was the worst president ever. Other than his work in habitat for humanity, which is admirable, what can Carter possibly add regarding foreign or domestic policy? Then there is B. Clinton. They keep shoving it down our throats about what a great president he was, but most of the pre 9/11 terrorist attacks on U.S. property around the world occurred on his watch. I see the fuel shortage problem as being an orrurrence which was fostered liberally during the Clinton Administration.
