The National Guard isn''t supposed to be fighting wars on foreign soil. They are supposed to be here to protect us from threats at home such as civil unrest, natural disasters, etc.. They have often spent time during their annual two weeks active duty doing "hearts and minds" work such as building clinics in Haiti or roadds in El Slavador. When Hurrican Katrina hit, there were no Guard troops available to the governor. Bush waited days to return them to the southern states. The Guard is the perview of the states, not the President. He has us spread so thin that this thing in Georgia, where we have sent Naval troops to supposedly do "hearts and minds" work, is allowing various terror organizations such as the Taliban to think they can take us on and we won''t have the strength to fight back. Ah, Mr. President, I think the final uplifting image of your Presidency will be you patty an Olympics volleyball player on the tush.

McCain is on CNN as I type this...which yet again leads me to marvel at the greed of the Republicans.

He is all "trickle down" economics - always "We have to cut taxes for the wealthy and the corporations so we can create jobs!"...still...even though such policies have had no sustained, beneficial effect since they were first shoved into America''s back by Reagan.

In fact, they promptly take the money and invest it offshore to get higher returns because of the cheaper labor!!! Republicans just DO NOT ALLOW concepts like "patriotism" to interfere with wealth accumulation!!!

Meanwhile, we have articles such as this, that point out that it costs money to protect America.

And who benefits the most from protecting America?

The guys and gals making $30K a year, who may not -and probably don''t - even own a home?

Or the person who makes $4.5 million a year ("middle class", to McCain), and owns a number of properties?

And yet the latter do not want to pay their proportional share of the burden of protecting them!!

The bottom line is Republicans are the epitome of "welfare parasites"...if they aren''t suckling at the government teat with corporate tax deductions and credits, they are crying about the proportion of taxes they share - regardless of the fact that, proportionately, they benefit the most from the use of our infrastructure and defense in their endless pursuit of more wealth.

Republicans...whiners, thieves, crybabies, and parasites, all.
