Says Soldiers May Begin To Fear Civilian Prosecution For Doing Their Jobs

You were not there. You do not know if they were unarmed, tried to escape or attack this marine. Wait for the facts to come out in court. I do not think with the evidence they have they will get a conviction. Too much room for reasonable doubt. - Reply to this comment

You bad mouth army and women in the army. Wish you could meet my daughter. She is in the army. She has an iq of a genious, served in Iraq, could pose for playboy and after you met her you would then be picking your teeth up from the ground. She would kick your ***. I am very proud of our service members. But i know you wouldn''t want to meet her. You and shazam would rather be porking some guy in the butt. - Reply to this comment

- There is NO excuse for the murder of unarmed civilians during War. NONE. Anyone who either Commits such an Act, Authorizes such an Act, or Cheerleads and Apologizes for such Acts, is a Criminal. PERIOD.
There may, in some rare instances, come an incident in which Civilians are killed accidentally, and without intention to do so, but this is not what is being discussed here. What is troubling about ALL these incidents, is the lack of ANY responsibility being shared by Higher Ranking Officers. This is more about a Failure of Command than anything, and all Officers involved should share Equally in the penalties.
And always remember, if the Bush/Cheney Crime Cartel had not Lied to get the US into this Massive and Historic Cluster F**k for Fun and Profit, there''d be thousands of Americans alive and with their Families, and Millions of Iraqis Alive and with theirs.
THESE are the True Criminals deserving of Prosecution and Hanging. - Reply to this comment

- Shame on soldiers who deliberately break the rules of geneva conventions, whether its the military court or the civilian ,if any crimes have been committed than this thug must be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law ,I am afraid that based on u.s. military''s poor record this loser may just get slap on the wrist and that would be another miscarriage of justice.... as usual a typical of american justice system that stinks to its core......

- Next they will be prosecuting bomber pilots from WWII that dropped bombs on German and Japanese cities because civilians were killed. This is ludicrous. I do not believe we should have ever invaded Iraq, but it is the job of the military to kill people and break things. That is why war is the last resort. Innocents are always killed in war and it has been that way since the dawn of time. This is like expecting a shark not to kill fish. If we are going to deploy the military in a combat situation, we should expect that it will not be pretty, and it shouldn''t be.

- This is truly a disgrace to let civilian court dictate or second guess military actions after the fact. This is a military matter ,and should be handled by military courts. Change the laws if need be.

- Civilian juries are not qualified to judge these cases and they should be handled by court martial proceedings. If the government wants to prosecute these guys, they should recall them to active duty and handle it that way. Too many jurors in the civilian sector have no idea what these soldiers endure in a combat situation.

- This guy`s defense is that he shot and killed disarmed and restrained combatants because someone, via radio, suggested that he should?

Yeah but shshshshshsh! If we question his actions, real troops might not kill prisoners for fear of civil prosecution. - Reply to this comment
- Disagreeing with my government and siding with the insurgents are two different things. But you simpletons like to paint the world in simple terms - makes murdering civilians easier for you to swallow I guess. So if I question my government, I''''m siding with the insurgents?
Well put Don''t Tread. You didn''t need to play the name calling card though. Thats the strategy of the right wingers when they know there are no intelligent answers for our questions and observations. - Reply to this comment
- Evidently none or you would not be siding with the insurgent point of view. I have had the opportunity to have these discussions, and they are happy we are there, unlike the rhetoric you would prefer to hear to confirm your bias, so stay quiet long enuf to listen, learn, and wise up.

You and the other p-ssy chickenhawks like throwing that charge around - you and good ole'' Rumsfeld. Wise up sheep. Your ilk are the ones that have subverted the US - not those who question this disaster of a war and the B S line the neo-cons used to sell it to us. Beeeeeeeeeeeeh - eat your propaganda sheep. - Reply to this comment
