That being said, I don''t think I lost any sleep over Saddam''s hanging.

StLouisMan: As am I. I really have no sympathy for those who rape, murder, assault. But, I agree with an earlier poster who indicated that those getting joy in someone''s execution are morbid.

It appears that my little "conversation" with Hwy71So was deleted. Good thing, I suppose.

StLouisMan3 put me in charge and I will cut that cost into a small fraction..

Box of 20 bullets $15.. and even if I use my 50 cal.. that is only $2.50 per shot..

and for a longer contract I will use a hammer..

Celebrating the death of someone who was executed is just as bad as the person who committed the crime. Do I believe he deserved to be executed? I can''t answer that personally, because I have never been in a position to warrent such a thoght. One thing I won''t be is "happy" and ant to go out and celebrate, because someone was just killed. I don''t have morbid thoughts like that. Do I believe the death penalty should be around, "YES" I do. WIth the lawyers buzzing around like knats, they will always be the ones to blame to prolong someone''s execution, so they can keep billing someone over their time. My true thoughts of a perfect execution is, if the person is guilty by their own words of a murder, and they are convicted and sentenced to death, then the judge needs to look them in the eyes and say you are forgiven and free to go, then when he turns around, the bailiff puts a .45 slug through the back og his brain, ending it all. No suffering, no noting. How could the ACLU argue with that?

Don''''t forget the cost of alll the mandated legal appeals it takes to get to the point that the execution can take place. I suspect that if you included all the legal expenses (for and against) that the costs may be nearly equal for housing them or executing them.

StLouisMan: Actually, with the mandated appeals, I think it is more expensive to execute than just store them until they die. I am not advocating either side, but those who seem to want to "hang them high" amuse me.

If you live a good life when you die you go to TEXAS! If you are bad, you go to HUNTSVILLE! Hasta la Vista amigo!

This should serve as proof that the death penalty is not the deterrent to homicide as most had hoped.

This brings up the issue of the point of punishment by the legal system, whether it be incarceration or death. Frankly I don''t care if the death penalty is a deterrent, if criminals get rehabilitated in prison or that they are made to suffer for their crimes. The main reason to put them in prison or to death is for the protection of the rest of us. So the most important point of Rodriguez''s execution to me is that he''ll never hurt anyone again. If others are deterred by the death penalty or may be rehabilitated in prison, well those are just bonuses. The real reason for killing these guys or putting them away for long stretches is to protect the rest of us.

I love to read about implementation of the death penalty. It gives me a tingling feeling that justice, albeit postponed, delivers the message. Texas is a great state. Hang''m high and often.

One down - 5 more to go out of the "Texas 7" gang.
Good news.
I think I''ll carry out some celebration this week-end.
