Mother, Three Other Alleged Cult Members Charged With Murder Of Toddler Found In Suitcase
- No such luck. The belligerent, intolerant, loud-mouthed, self-righteous atheists can be expected to (and have already) hold up such extreme and bizarre events as somehow representative of religion as a whole, and then smugly and condescendingly sneer at any and all people who don''t share what amounts to no more than their personal opinions.

As an atheist myself I can only see more danger in people who believe in fairy tales than in people who deal with the real world.
Religions offer an outlet for people who for some reason or another want to be in denial of the world around them and would rather live in their own world, and all for the sake of "god" as if "god" was some kind of boss we''re all accountable to.
It is this sense of being watched and judge that is so demented about religions regardless of how rational the believer seems to be. - Reply to this comment

- janke: if those 2.2 billions christians have the same "interpretation" of the word of god, why are there so many different views within the christian community?

- Each believer thinks his own interpretation is correct and true, and acts that out. The results are often hideous to civilized and rational folk, as exemplified by this story.
I am sure your interpretation is no more or less correct than anyone else''''s. Yet no doubt you will be unyielding in your certitude, as your "****" comments can attest to. Goodbye.

Just as some 2.2 billion christians have the same "interpretation" of the word of God, I also share in the consistant, invariable age old book of truth. Are they all wrong? or are you? - Reply to this comment
- The mother in this case is clearly an adult and at that age should have a common knowledge of what is right or wrong. Regardless of the accusations that she was being guided by others, she still has a moral and ethical responsibility for the care of the child whom depended on her care. Shame on her, and shame on the cult. There are a lot of sick people in the world. What the hell is wrong with people!

- Unbeleivable...a child has been murdered. His misguided mother has been charged.
A grandmother is mourning. Let''s hope she (grandmother) doesn''t see that her grandsons death has become the stage in this forum for a debate on the Bible. My thoughts and prayers go out to this family. - Reply to this comment

The bible has always been interpreted to suit the times and people. I provide an example of how it was used in Galileo''''s time. Even in our own recent history, it was widely used for justification of witchcraft trials, slavery, and genocide of native americans. A century from now, I suspect new interpretations meanings will be obtained from this dusty and destructive book.
The major point is this - the bible is not some unerring, unambiguous document. Sadly, you do not have the intellectual ability of understand this....

The bible has always been consistant and unwavering in its message and writings. Several thousand year old manuscripts have been found to match almost exactly word for word to that of modern versions of the bible. Humans however are far from consistant in behavior and will use his own twisted translation of the word to suite his own purposes. For example, the bible says clearly that homosexuality is wrong, the homos use the verses that say we should not judge others, or that jesus is all loving to justify their perversions. Even hitler used his own interpetation of biblical scriptures to murder 6 million jews.

No, the truth is that you are easily fooled into believing whatever Satan wants you to believe when you reject the truth of the cross of Jesus Christ and WHY He died on that cross. - Reply to this comment
- And still people refuse to believe there are demonic spirits roaming the earth looking for habitation, just as Jesus said.

- Yet another example of those so deluded in their own version or interpretation of a highly questionable set of documents called "the bible" that others are harmed. And so it has been for thousands of years.
How sad folks are brainwashed and indoctrinated from birth into believing other''s beliefs, instead of being allowed the freedom to investigate and weigh whatever, if any, truths that may be involved in mankind''s search for enlightenment of our origins.
To starve a child is an abuse, not in any way a righteous or religious act. - Reply to this comment
- At the time of Galileo, the official church position was that the earth was flat. That position was based on a literal reading of the bible, according to church writings of the day.
Fast forward to today, and now Christians will try to say just the opposite, that the bible says the earth is round.
Sorry bud, you can''''''''t have it both ways.

Bingo! The "church" in Galileos day was the catholic church which had their own writings. The protestant movement was well underway at that time after Martin luther discovered what the real bible said. Since then we were able to come out of the "dark" ages and "see" the light.

- What crackpot of a person would have a child and kill him for forgeting to say amen so she could hear it. Amen to the little one who said it in his heart. I faced this issue when I was 15. Other homes I did not atteb church. I told social worker I did not want to go to church. She said I had to. I was pissed as I did not want it. She was in the wrong. I had to go. navyvet77 No body will ever force me to go to a bloody church againt my will again.

- Actually,it was God who created humans and gave them a mind. Some use their mind to serve God in thankfullness and adoration, and some use their mind to serve themselves in selfishness and arrogance.
