- If a bear tastes human flesh, he will go after more, Not because its so good, but because he is no longer cautious of humans and they are plentiful.

- Bears are wild creatures and above us on the food chain. Nature says you have to kill or be killed, that is life. The most fervent conservationist in the world will agree with this. If a bear kills humans, humans have two choices; kill the bear or continue to be killed by the bear. The choice is difficult, because we are compassionate creatures, but it is not unclear. The bear must be killed. Hopefully, the carcass was not discarded, but put to good use. Because that would be wrong: Nature also says eat what you kill.

Strange how this reporter never mentioned the fact that the bear was a cub. I guess to sensationalize the story.
Oh well, guess it was Boo Boo that got shot... - Reply to this comment
- What is wrong with you "people"?
Bears are beautiful wild animals...I know, we live in an area they frequent. In fact one was in our yard this morning. But they are WILD , unpredictable and they are predators. Did I mention wild predators?
Get over the global warming crisis! Bears have killed people for longer than any of us have been around to worry about global warming.
If you have ever seen one of these huge black bear coming at you with 3" long canine teeth, or seen the aftermath of a dog mauled by a bear, you would forget the "Teddy Bear" syndrome.
While I''m raging here in the Southwest mountains, give the Game Wardens credit. Black bears do look different; the warden wouldn''t just shoot one for the heck of it. Every wildlife biologist I''ve know goes into it because they like wildlife, not because they want to kill them.
When you live in wildlife areas, you have a different outlook on WILDLIFE than when you live in the city and look on them as adorable creatures. They beautiful and part of the wild heritage, but they are predators and to them we often look alot like prey. So you had better hope you or your loved ones never get mauled! - Reply to this comment

- Funny scenario:
The attacking bear runs off into the woods. On the way he passes another bear and says: "Hey buddy, there are loads of berries down by the creek". - Reply to this comment
