The way I figure it these are private organizations anyone can join, so if she wants to spy for someone else on their dime, so be it. Sure, its shady and devious, but so is a restaurant sending one of its chefs over to the competition to try and peek into the kitchen.

As for the gun issue, if you can be responsible to operate a 2 ton vehicle capable of mowing down innocent people at 60 mph, why not a gun capable of doing about the same thing? Cars don''t kill people, the drivers do. Just like guns don''t kill people, the person pulling the trigger does.

And the sooner the anti-anything people understand the concept of personal responsibility, the better. I''m sick and tired of everyone trying to legislate behavior. If you break into my house, you''re going out in a body bag. You assault me on the street, you''ll be lying on that same street in a puddle of your own fluids. I won''t kill indiscriminately or foolishly, but if you threaten my life you better believe I''ll take yours before I give you mine!

This is to the dummies that don"t own a gun, when some one breaks in to your house and is choking your son ,baby ,wife and you just sit there, call yourself stupid and hold your self responsible.God give you sense enough to realize that crooks don"t care and the cops cannot be every where all the time.

Your precious 2nd Amendment, which incidentally proves pretty much that Americans have never been able to write English, was essentially put in place so that the inhabitants could still fight back if the Brits ever returned to claim "the Colonies" back. It is pretty much outdated therefore, and should have been erased years ago. Since people like you and your beloved NRA insist on keeping it active, you all should take responsibility for high crime rates, since the easier it is for your "well-regulated militia" to obtain guns, obviously the easier it is for criminals to do so.

As I stated before, I have no problem with people having hand guns and shotguns and hunting rifles. Since I chose not to have weapons in my home, we have dogs. If anyone tries to invade our home the dogs will take them down in a heartbeat and keep them there while I call the police. And, they are there to greet me when I come home whereas it isn''t any fun to pet a gun. But I guess some people love their guns like I love my dogs. To each his own.

"Do you believe that you have the right to defend yourself? If an attacker kicks your door down and is a threat to you and your family, what are you going to do?"

This is too typical of the pro-gun crowd. For many of them, a gun is a prop in a fantasy drama where there are good guys and bad guys and they write themselves in as the strong hero and savior of home and family.

Is this pathetic fantasy unique to America? There are so many ways to REALLY be a hero and do some good if that is a goal.

I have no problem with people having hand guns for protection in their homes or shotguns and hunting rifles. But I saw something just yesterday that was thought provoking. I was pulling into the K-Mart parking lot and the woman in the car in front of me cut off a car approaching from the right. He laid on the horn, she flipped him off, he flipped her off, she rolled down her window and started screaming obsenities at him, he rolled down his window and produced what appeared to be a 38 caliber pistol. She left....quickly. This little drama took place in a matter of minutes. I thought, maybe we need to just go back to the days of the old west. Everyone strap on a six shooter and if there is a disagreement, shoot it out. Loser dies. I choose not to have weapons. But my son is a hunter and shooter and I support his rights 100%. But I don''t believe he needs a fully automatic assault weapon to hunt squirrels with. But spying should be a no-no. One thing I don''t understand is that even though I support a persons right to have weapons, the NRA hates me because I am a liberal. Explain that to me.

liberal: "favorable to progress or reform, as in political or religious affairs."

conservative: "disposed to preserve existing conditions, institutions, etc., or to restore traditional ones, and to limit change."

So, which one does Jesus, Lincoln, our Founding Fathers, etc. seem to fit with?

Yeah, that''s what I thought. Class dismissed.

Jimfinster...*** good question. No one will have the courage to answer it from their heart though. They really think guns are the answer to all that ails the planet.

Isn''''t it interesting how many Christians are in the NRA?

What would Jesus do? Think he would own guns?

Depends how they do it. Some of their methods have been pretty slimey in the past.

Probably not, but our party isn''''t the one claiming Jesus as one of ours like you Repubs do.

Thanks for agreeing with me. So, I guess Jesus wasn''t much of a liberal after all.

We all lose when spying illegally is applauded by a significant part of the population.
Posted by rafterman1 at 11:42 AM : Aug 06, 2008

Put your hysteria back in its holster. THE NRA IS NOT THE GOVERNMENT. They are a group of private citizens, they have the same rights as a news organization.

If the news media did this, it would be called an "undercover investigation." Do you compare the news media to Nazis when they gather evidence this way?

These anti-gun idiots should get over themselves and get real jobs. If they don''t want to own firearms, then fine, they don''t have to. But they keep forgetting that right this minute the rest of us have the legal right to own weapons, thanks in part to the efforts of the NRA.

I''m grateful to the NRA for supporting our right to bear arms, protect ourselves, hunt for food, and enjoy recreational shooting (sporting clays, skeet, etc).

I don''''t want my rights as a responsible gun owner to be associated with spying or any other potentially illegal activity.

Posted by diatreme at 11:32 AM : Aug 06, 2008

HAR, HAR, HAR! AS IF you''re a gun owner, or even an NRA member.

If the news media did this, it would be called an "UNDERCOVER INVESTIGATION."

Guess what - THE NRA IS NOT THE GOVERNMENT. They are a group of private citizens, so there is no law against it. JUST LIKE THE NEWS MEDIA CAN DO IT.
