USCLIMEY - I''m not concerned with whether cars and guns have different purposes for good or ill. My point is that it all comes down to personal responsibility. And contrary to your belief, reading ability has nothing to do with responsibility. Some of the most responsible people I know are illiterate. So I still maintain that people should be ALLOWED to be responsible for their OWN behavior, not have legislation thrust upon them for every facet of their lives.

Also, the NRA isn''t supporting murder, they advocate responsible (there''s that word again that liberals hate) gun ownership.

We need FEWER groups trying to take rights away from Americans.

We''ve lost the freedom to smoke. (I don''t, but I''d rather folks had the right than not.)

We''re about to give up the right to an internet free of government influence.

We''ve taken away the right to choose if you want car insurance or not.

Massachussetts and Hilary have taken away your right to gamble with your own health and not carry health insurance.

We''ve taken away parents rights to discipline (read: spank) their children as they see fit.

I wish the rest of you would get your legislated morality and socialism out of my life! Let me choose my own path in life and deal with the consequences of my action, the way God and Nature intended.

As an American citizen who values the civil rights guaranteed by the Constitution, I applaud the NRA for this. Know your enemy, especially if the enemy is hell-bent on infringing on the rights of honest Americans.

I hope the NRA has other "spies" in place, in other far-left gun-hating wacko organizations.

Think Communist China where no one is allowed to have self control.

I don''t see Great Britain turning in to Communist China anytime soon with their gun ban. I do see a lot safer streets over there than here. I guess you are proud of Bush trekking over to China as their guest this month. Let''s see, Communist China with all its crimes against humanity, and yet Bush has a total trade embargo clamped on Cuba. Let''s see... oh, I get it- Bush isn''t borrowing $10 billion a month to finance his Iraqi adventure from Cuba. That makes China a really good friend that "we should keep engaged" as Bush puts it. How do you two-faced people sleep at night. Don''t you suffocate when one of your faces is always buried in the pillow?

Whaa Whaa. AS if these anti gun groups haven''t done the same thing to local gun clubs and the like.

The anti gun groups are socialists who want to pick apart the Constitution one piece at a time until Women are require to wear only certain colors of dresses and can''t be see out of their houses without a male escort, and the men are controlled by a religious zelot in robot fashion. Think FLDS and Wahhabism. Think Communist China where no one is allowed to have self control.

I''d be more than happy to have free speech replaced by true speech. Personally I''d find it quite satisfactory if you couldn''t say anything anywhere that wasn''t true. If it''s perjory in court, it should perjury when not under oath. Ah but wait - the right would never allow that would they - their beloved spokesmen Limpbore, Shammity, O''Wrongly and the *** wouldn''t ever be allowed near a microphone again. Come to think of it Bush and Cheney wouldn''t either - Silence is Golden.

By all means, the government will never end your right to free speech. Just remember that whatever you say can and will be used against you, and they can now listen to all your phone calls, read all your email, videotape you from satellites, and, like the NRA, hire people to spy on your every move at work, school, church, or anywhere else. Forget it DykieCommieMost, the Supreme court disagrees with you and confirmed that the Constitution gives the People the right to bear arms, and recently, the liberals attempt to stomp on it, was stopped cold

Posted by Minuteman-5

Right - Stone cold by a 5 to 4 verdict!!! even two republicans voted against the decision. Not exactly what I call a slam dunk.

You need to learn not only how to read (word for word) but also to UNDERSTAND what you are reading!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Posted by DaVicar2 at 02:06 PM : Aug 06, 2008

--------------------------------

I understand it perfectly, and exactly as intended. It is one sentence, not two. The first clause is the premise for the second clause, and it irrefutably links gun ownership by the people as to the establishment of state militias. No amount of creative manipulation can separate the first clause from the second in such a way as to somehow form an independent thought with the second. If it were an independent thought, IT WOULD BE AN INDEPENDENT SENTENCE. Go back to grammar school.
