"...the average lawyer/doctor in europe makes 1/3 compared to the states..."

Please do your math. It''s not what you make that matters, but what you spend that matters in the end. For example, what good is it to make $1 million/year when you must spend $1 millions/year? Doctors in USA demand high salaries not because of their high IQ but because of our legal system which requires they pay huge amount for insurance and other business fees obligated by the business. In socialist countries, these legal fees do not exist.

"Give all your money to the government and let them hand it out to whomever they think deserves it."

You mean like the capitalist system we have, where we give government all our money and they give it to corporations with no accountability what so ever.

If I am getting rich and live very comfortable, I care less about my socialist government. In fact, I would love my socialist government for doing such a great job for me.

Under Socialism, at least I get rich and live comfortable like in Europe, Asia and Latin America. In the meantime, you get poorer in USA under Capitalism.

"Tell us EXACTLY how much it cost the government to "bail out" Fannie and Freddie"

$25 Billion and the article reads that this may not be enough.

Somehow you truely believe that these bank and investment institution are not to blame.

If I am a bank or an investor and I sell a subprime mortgage where I know or do not know the client is capable of paying - why not blame me for both not knowing and for knowing?

I''''m curious. How do you lie to obtain a mortgage?
Where I live, you can''''t lie. They check ALL information you give them.

No document loans require no verification. A large number of these people put no money down and just walk away from the property when they stop making payments. They lose nothing.

I don''t know why you guys think this is a bailout for the home owner. It''s not! Just read the law and see for yourself.

It''s all about bailing out the banks and investors.

I feel like I missed the boat. I should have taken out a nice mortgage - oh 600,000 would do nicely. Then defaulted on it because the mean old banker lied to me. Now bushy could have bailed me out. Ain''t it all a bloody shame

the republican deregulation of financial markets which was championed by exSen. Phil Gramm, a McSame supporter (remember: the depression is in your head, you whinners?) - led to this mess

and now the same repugs are throwing everyone elses money away to solve their mistake!

the worst administration in US history, without doubt!
