One small point everyone seems to forget: When the white owned slave ships arrived in Africa, they didn''t go out and capture these blacks, they bought them from, guess who? Black slave traders who had captured these poor souls and sold them to the whites! Rival tribes/clans captured them and sold them! Just as now, blacks preyed on their own. I''m not trying to justify what the whites did back then, but lets keep everything in perspective.

I wonder how long it will be before the cry for reparations begin anew?
The reparations have been paid for the last 50 plus years by the tax-payers of this country. ENOUGH!

Brilliant post DogSoul and since I could surely do no better, I leave the chore of standing up for common sense in your very able hands. Have a good day.

Several of you have very funny and wity things to say, but when a government endorses a policy of treating ANY group as less worthy than another, it should admit those mistakes. An individual person may be bad (Hitler) but a systematic government policy must be atoned for or you get the comments many of you are making. Many many groups have been oppressed, but if we as a people do not learn and govern accordingly, we will have more death camps and genocide in our future (actually we still do). You can believe in your God or Allah or whatever Supreme Being you hold faith to, but the deeds you do will go with you. If you can''t see that 400 years of treating a group of people less than equal was wrong and acknowledge that, then all groups from poor to immigrants to Native Peoples will always run the risk of being treated poorly.

"Being "bad" is directly related to the dominated behavior of white slave owners. Like the pit bull, the ability to snap and bite back wont go away just by being nice."

You idiot... for one, what you''re saying is pure racism - you''re basically saying that black Americans are genetically violent... granted, you''re blaming slave owners for it; but making the claim nonetheless. Second, genetics don''t work like that nimrod - they don''t kick in based on some emotional response to being dominated. If anything, slave owners would have chosen to breed the most PASSIVE, albeit strong slaves - like farm horses. They wouldn''t go about intentionally trying to promote the most likely to rebel.

What plagues black Americans ARE black Americans & their liberal masters who help propogate an attitude & culture of irresponsibilty, victimhood, & entitlement - break that - and you''ll see real change.

The "thick layer of skin" is good advice but aimed at the wrong person.

Many blacks have held back the black community just by their actions of seemingly trying to prove just how "bad" they can be. Posted by bikerb54 at 08:54 AM : Jul 30, 2008

Give me a break...it might take a hundred more years for slavery''s affect on the genetic makeup of african(black) americans to be diluted by freedom. Being "bad" is directly related to the dominated behavior of white slave owners. Like the pit bull, the ability to snap and bite back wont go away just by being nice.
Put on a thicker layer of skin and shut up.

Your parrellels between American and African Blakcs, while they may seem logical, are not.

Yes there is more poverty, AIDS/HIV, under education in Africa than here in the good old USA, BUT you cannot define this as a "Blackman''s" or "whitey''s" fault/problem.

Thee are, quite simply, more blacks in Africa than in the USA. If I gather all the rats in my home town and place them in my backyard it would appear that I have a rat problem, BUT ONLY because I have concentrated them there. I probably didn''t have a rat problem until I concentrated them there.

I do wish that more black people would listen to the likes of Bill Cosby, Barack Obama, and Colin Powell and others like them rather than Al and Jesse. Racists Al and Jesse are not for their good. They do not attempt to elevate the standards/positions of the blacks as Bill Cosby, Barack Obama and Colin Powell have tried to do. Instead Al and Jesse want "whitey" to brink these kids up to standard and give them whatever they want without working. It is in the working for success that their pride and satisfaction will grow, and it starts in the early formative years.
