Bush Administration Blames $482B Budget Deficit On Slumping Economy, Stimulus Payments
- It would be more impressive to see the economic debate centered on the two most pernicious wealth-destroying activities (the ones that are destroying our economy) taking place in our Nation: trade deficit with our trading partners, with a specific focus on Communist China; oil dependence on foreign nations with a specific emphasis on switching our Nation over from oil to natual gas and wind and solar energy--the Pickens Plan. Unless the sources of these two problems are eliminated by positive, aggressive political will, then slamming high income individuals with higher taxes and redistributing that tax to lower income individuals does nothing with regard to changing the decline in our national wealth. And that is the saddest thing about this election: the Democratic leadership is intent on *** America''s ability to become energy independent so that we stay dependent on mid-East oil literally draining this Nation of its national wealth. Which is no different in effect than the Bush Administration. The only question anyone should ask himself is this: Why?

- well, if all the dead people the bush war has left behind (4''000+ ours and abt 650''000 iraqis) don''t convince you we''re dealing with the absolute worst
president ever, ever, in our history -
maybe the numbers coming will: -480 billion continued war costs, another 100 billion the 120 billion clinton left to him.
it is of a magnitude which defies measurement - it is a folly which defies imagination - - Reply to this comment
- "Carabou are great for herding illegal immigrants to the unemployment office. "
LOVE IT. Although I''m from Texas...lots of illegal immigrants, and no caribou.
Must be for herding those pesky Canadians. You know how much trouble THEY can be. - Reply to this comment
- omega39...no, I wasn''t aware of that!!!
OMG. I can''t wait to tell my limbaugh-brainwashed father about that!
(I, by the way, am just fed up with our whole government system. I considered myself a Republican until lately, and have lost so much respect for both parties.) - Reply to this comment
- "Both parties recognized that the deficit would increase, and that that was going to be the price that we pay," Perino said.
Typical REPUBLICON LIE. When you see you can''t hide total responsibility for YOUR MISTAKE, you try to show that you are not totally irresponsible by passing off part of this debacile on to the Democrats. The bushites go for it every time...hook,line, and sinker. What Morons! - Reply to this comment
- Think about it ! Obama%u2019s change will include raising income taxes, raising social security taxes, raising inheritance taxes, so your dollars after tax will go from the present 55% to 37%. If you are having a hard time meeting your expenses now, just try living on 18% less. Don%u2019t take my word for it. The facts are in the July 29 issue of the Wall Street journal . And Obama does not want to open up drilling in ANWAR. We have 9 billion gallons of oil in this desolate area and three trillion cubic feet of natural gas. Democrats stand in the way of developing these resources. Maybe the green peace people think we can all ride caribou to work %u2026%u2026 but then again green peace people don%u2019t work. Carabou are great for herding illegal immigrants to the unemployment office.

- Hey Kate, remember this?
THE REPUBLICAN PARTY is using call centers in Gurgaon and Noida in India to raise funds for itself and for its chieftain, George W. Bush.
Young people at the call centers are helping robots to phone American citizens to enlist their support and money for the political party, with plans to extend the scheme if they whip up enough donations.
There''s a high degree of automation involved in the process, according to Indian newspaper the Business Standard, which says that HCL Eserve is handling the business for the party.
They couldn''t even toss those $7/hour jobs to Americans in the middle of what was being called a "jobless recovery". How typical. - Reply to this comment

Mr. Bush has been provided the outplacement services of Manpower, Inc. to help him write a resume and prepare for his upcoming job transition. According to Manpower, Mr. Bush may have difficulties in securing a new position due to limited practical work experience. A greeter position at Wal-Mart was suggested due to Bush''s extensive experience shaking hands and phony smile.
Another possibility is Bush''s re-enlistment in the Texas Air National Guard. His prior records are conspicuously vague but should he choose this option, he would likely be stationed in Waco, TX for a month before being sent to Iraq, a country he has visited. "I''ve been there, I know all about Iraq," stated Mr. Bush, who gained invaluable knowledge of the country in a visit he once made to the Baghdad Airport''s terminal and gift shop. - Reply to this comment
- It is believed that Mr. Singh will be able to handle his job responsibilities without a support staff. Due to the time difference between the US and India, he will be working primarily at night, when few offices of the US Government will be open. "Working nights will allow me to keep my day job at the American Express call center," stated Mr. Singh in an exclusive interview. "I am excited about this position. I always hoped I would be President."
A Congressional Spokesperson noted that while Mr. Singh may not be fully aware of all the issues involved in the office of President, this should not be a problem because Bush was not familiar with the
issues either. Mr. Singh will rely upon a script tree that will enable him to respond effectively to most topics of concern. Using the canned responses, he can address common concerns without having to understand the underlying issues at all.
"We know these scripting tools work," stated the spokesperson. "President Bush has used them successfully for years." Mr. Singh may have problems with the Texas drawl, but lately Bush has abandoned the "down home" persona in his effort to appear intelligent and on top of the Katrina situation.
Bush will receive health coverage, expenses, and salary until his final day of employment. Following a two week waiting period, he will be eligible for $240 a week unemployment for 13 weeks. Unfortunately he will not be eligible for Medicaid, as his unemployment benefits will exceed the allowed limit. - Reply to this comment
- Someone sent this to me once...it''s in multiple parts:
SPECIAL BULLETIN:
Washington - Congress today announced that the office of President of the United States of America will be outsourced to India as of December 31, 2007. The move is being made to save the President''s $400,000 yearly salary, and also a record $521 billion in deficit expenditures and related overhead the office has incurred during the last seven years.
We believe this is a wise move financially. The cost savings should be significant," stated Congressman Thomas Reynolds (R-WA). Reynolds, with the aid of the Government Accounting Office, has studied outsourcing of American jobs extensively. "We cannot expect to remain competitive on the world stage with the current level of cash outlay," Reynolds noted.
Mr. Bush was informed by email this morning of his termination. Preparations for the job move have been underway for some time.
Gurvinder Singh of Indus Teleservices, Mumbai, India will be assuming the office of President as of January 1, 2006.
Mr. Singh was born in the United States while his Indian parents were vacationing at Niagara Falls, thus making him eligible for the position. He will receive a salary of $320 (USD) a month but with no health coverage or other benefits. - Reply to this comment
