Is our courageous free press going to bother to tell us how Obama and McCain (Senators both) voted?

Or are they too busy covering J. Lopez and Madonna?

However we can probably guess the positions of the two presidential candidates:

Obama--in favor of helping seniors.

McCain--in favor of helping himself. If seniors have problems, let them marry a rich blonde beer-heiress who pays all the bills, just like McCain did!

I think they should turn the heat off on the GOP side of the Senate and House. Let the fat cats see what it''s like to be cold all the time. Greedy, anything-for-the-wealthly b@stards. Too stupid to see that the middle class supports the upper crust''s way of life. Idiots!

With global warming, who''ll freeze?

Certainly not Al Gore... what was his; $30000 per year?

When are the dems going to actually do something for us?

Posted by scottyusa at 06:45 AM : Jul 27, 2008

Were you asleep last week? LOL This is nothing but an attempt by the Republican''s to get something going for them after so much failure. If you go to factcheck you can see how big a rip off it is. Even Oil Men who are honest will tell you we can''t drill our way out of this mess.

What more needs to be said to demonstrate the lengths to which the Democrats will go to prolong the energy crisis believing it helps Democrats politically?

Posted by AmJoe at 07:26 AM : Jul 27, 2008

So YOU think allowing drilling off shore will stop the energy crisis? PLEASE educate yourself!! We need a new source of energy not more holes in the ground.

Better question is, how much longer will the Republicans do nothing but destroy us?

Posted by nextGenMan at 06:58 AM : Jul 27, 2008

------------

What happens in Washington is ultimately our responsibility. We allow it to happen. This our country and therefore our responsibility. It is time to hold our elected officials responsible.

The Republican Party; doing what it does best, lying through it''s teeth, hurting the poor and backing big oil. The sad part is there are just too many people who cannot see through the lies and keep voting in the same neo-cons over and over.

Offshore drilling will take almost 20 years and produce only 3% of our oil. Read the truth at factcheck.org before you back the Republican plan. It''s right out there for all to see. The problem is they don''t want to see the truth. It would mean they would have to admit they fell for another lie yet again.

The truth is Capitalism is a failure, just as Communism was.

Yes, we want and need the government to limit the power of big corporations to steal from people.

What everyone seems to forget is that the wealthiest people in the nation want to get wealthier, and the only way they can do that is to make sure the poor get poorer - and that the middle class gets poorer. The rich folks can drive up the prices of oil, food, and anything else they like, since they own it all, and the rest of us get to sit back, complain a lot, stomp our feet, and flail our arms about, but there is absolutely nothing we can do about it as long as there are enough rich guys in the house and senate to block any bill that actually offers help to real people instead of to institutions, corporations, and the pentagon.

People in the United States will freeze to death where they live because they cannot afford to stay warm, thanks to Republicans who just don''t care about them. What a shameful thing.

GOP blocks heating aid increase for the poor?! This is surreal-- no competent public relations flak would counsel anybody to audition for the roles of Scrooge and Fiscal Nanny in a national crisis.

But the GOP has done it. Talk about flying one''s true colors-- although most of us realize the GOP means "Greedy Oil Party", this goes beyond the pale.

Have they no shame? It is simply beyond belief the GOP spokesman could keep a straight face while lecturing us about reckless government expenditure.

All this, of course, in the wake of the Bush federal spendfest on Wall Street to bail out the crooked banks and bond raters.

At least the GOP will be warm this winter as they count their assets in their comfortable homes.

The seniors who no longer can afford to drive to the grocery or heat their homes need to remember who blocked their bill.
