- It''s hilarious that people think turning on the printing presses and creating more money is going to solve everyone''s problems. Looks like most people in this country never took Econ101.

So what if you''re stuck with a mortgage worth way more than the house itself. Be thankful you are "free"! - Reply to this comment

- "This is another taxpayer handout for disreputable lenders and careless homeowners."
Exactly. I am sick of paying for other peoples mistakes and that includes people abroad.

- This is another taxpayer handout for disreputable lenders and careless homeowners. Many of the latter weren''t financial viable to even get a mortgage with many of them foolishly falling for the shell game the lenders were playing. Many didn''t even have the intelligence to hire an attorney to review their documents before signing their lives away. Many bought beyond their means and needs. Now, taxpayers are going to have to bail them out and help them out. Well, no one is helping me out with my fixed rate mortgage at 5.625%. I understand that one of the goodies these individuals will probably get is a restructuring of their loans to only 3% interest. If that''s true, then this handout is discriminatory, since it isn''t helping all homeowners out, regardless of whether or not they might be in the stages of foreclosure and is only protecting certain types of individuals. I don''t feel sorry for anyone who got duped into these predatory loans. If you''re not smart enough to qualify, including doing your homework and going to independent qualified individuals to protect your rights and interest, then you deserve to lose your home. Predatory lenders did take advantage of ignorant stupid borrowers, but it''s incumbent upon the borrower to know what they''re doing, or get help from some other party. Ignorance is no excuse.
