Comments on: Iraq War's Price Tag Nears Vietnam's
Congressional Estimate Puts U.S. Costs In Iraq At $648B; Vietnam Cost $686B In 2008 Dollars
- AT LEAST WE WILL LEAVE IRAQ THE VICTOR! THE ONLY THING WORSE THAN SPENDING THE HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS ON THE IRAQ "WAR," WILL BE TO SPEND THE MONEY AND THOUSANDS OF OUR SOLDIERS LIVES AND THEN WALK AWAY BEFORE THE JOB IS DONE (LIKE VIETNAM).
If Obama and the Dem''''s want to take credit for withdrawing US forces from Iraq, they trully would rather repeat Vietnam and then blame Bush, than hold the line and WIN and then drawdown.

You forget the Iraqi government has asked us to leave, to come up with an exit date! Staying in Iraq beyond the governments acceptance becomes an unwelcome occupation, good intentions or not! - Reply to this comment

- How many of you remember the payback recession during Carter''s years? I know he was falsely blamed for it but we will have the same thing happen again due to our reckless spending fostered by the "fiscally responsible" Repubs. I wonder who''ll get the blame this time for Georgie boy''s stupidity?!!!!

- the 20 year associations between the Bush Family and the Bin Ladens is way more dangerous and scary then some non-issue like Bill Ayers.
And to add insult to injury, Bush even let the Bin Ladens go after 9-11. What''s Bush hiding? - Reply to this comment

...or the Bush Family and the Bin Laden family 20 year associations and allowed the Bin Ladens to escape after 9/11, or why George Bush hired Rumsfield who shook hands and sold Saddam Hussien WMD, or Negroponte who kicked off the killing fields in Nicaragua, or Wolfowitz who helped Indonesia massacre 10''s of thousands in East Timor and then go head the World Bank.
Man you have no room to talk. I''d rather take Barrack Hussein Obama''s radical associations anytime over Republicans. - Reply to this comment
- But we don''t need to worry about who we will war with in the future. We will war with OURSELVES!
The recent deterioration in race relations created by Jesse Jackson will lead to civil war next year.

The article states:
"Congressional Research Service estimates the U.S. has spent $648 billion on Iraq war operations, putting it in range with the $686 billion, in 2008 dollars, spent on the Vietnam War, the second most expensive war behind World War II."

- "Yet the Iraq war has consumed less of the nation''s gross domestic product than other pricey conflicts. The Iraq war''s costs represented 1 percent of GDP in the peak year of the war. World War II, with a $4.1 trillion price tag in 2008 dollars, was nearly 36 percent of GDP and the Vietnam War was 2.3 percent of GDP in that wars'' peak years."
True, but in WWII we were not 10 TRILLION dollars in debt. The reality is we can not afford illegal and unwarranted wars that squander our resources. Iraq qualifies on both counts. - Reply to this comment
