I assume you mean "concatenated," but even so, your post doesn''t make much sense. Work on those writing skills.

You''re full of it. The article was published in Feb 2007 in association with a German group called the Institiute for the Study of Labor. The UC economist''s research was supported by the non-partisan Employment Policies Institute.

We%u2019re not in the stone age anymore. Every person in this nation, with the exception of those girls in the FLDS, can choose to not conceive a child.

"Breeding" and "rabbits" is a bit harsh, don''t you think? And "choosing" to breed? We''re talking about moral agency here, and none of us is in a position to comment on it. Minimum wage increases are a symptom of a larger problem, nothing more. But is it not the noblest of things a country can do than to provide for the wellbeing of all of its citizens? Not just the well-to-do portion? When we cease to do so, I feel we will have reached a cliff.

Wal*Mart pushed this bill with the Democrats.
Wal*mart has a lot to gain from it.
They already pay over $8.00 to start.

This wage increse will hurt mom and pop business.
Thus helping the Big Guy.

Democrats lie, and hurt the small man.....

Well I guess the University of California at Irvine is just lying about their data. You know all of those California professors and how republican they are.

........................

No the university did not lie, they only printed the article. The article they printed was funded and provided by the National Center of Policy Anailist, a conservative pro business "think tank". The article is based mostly on opinion and opinionated or unidentified studies over 25 years old. Bunk........

Many of the poor are in that demographic really through circumstances beyond their control. That being said, it%u2019s very difficult to feel sympathy and tolerance for low wage earners who CHOOSE to breed like rabbits.

Do you know how many un-employed MBA''s there are out there? LOL. Liberal Arts college, yes. But science and engineering, not useless published articles on things like why people live here and there, or why this or that person makes more or less money type of ***. I read some of this stuff about supply and demand, and it seems concantinated to a point where it''s just way too simple, and we all know more than anything that life is anything but simple.

newview08,

No offense History and Geography are liberal arts majors! I know my BA is in History. Get an MBA and then we can talk about how a business should run. As for 2 million losers. Yes, not all are. Young kids just starting off must start somewhere. I am referring to the other part of the 2 million that are adults. Such as the man in the article. He can''t be to start he is shacked up with a girlfriend that has seven kids. Those are the losers!! Having kids is not a right nor an expense I should pay for through tax dollars. Then he goes on to say he wants a better job just so he can increase his expenses by owning a car. What a rocket scientist. Maybe we should give him a medal for being a citizen along with his new raise! Thanks for your service as a vet!

Careful waynabq!!!!!

I voted for Clinton twice and for Al G. The problem is not if you are a DEM or REP. The problem is that both sides leaders have to clue how a free market system should work. It is a proven fact when taxes are lowered the economy starts moving. JFK knew that! The DEMS and REPS of today have no clue because they are liberal arts majors and lawyers that have no concept of how business should run. Much less a country. How many times has a person on minimum wage ever hired anyone? What good is it to get 2 million a raise while the other 298 million take a pay cut for the good of the few.

"If only the politicians and bleeding heart liberals would have taken the time in college to take an economics course as an elective to their strenuous degree programs in political science and underwater basket weaving we would not be in the economic mess we are in today."

What college did you go to? Not a bleeding heart or a liberal here. How about Geography, History, and Engineering post-graduate level from a majar non-California university. How about a combat veteran from the US armed forces? It''s very presumptuous of you to think that anybody who disagrees with a Wall Street solution to our problems is some kind of lib college malcontent. And people who work for minimum wage are not losers and so forth. Not every situation is ideal for everybody in this nation, I worked for minimum wage at one time in my life, and I was glad for it. Even then, I still loved this country.

They very same people who voted Bush into office twice are now blaming Clinton, and now Obama for the Iraq War and high gas prices, at least their recent incarnation of Bush, McCain is doing the blame game in the media for them.

I suppose the 9 Trillion dollar national debt largely racked up by the Bush administration and the Iraq war Bush lied about to start aren''t a factor as far as the state of our economy and our standing in the world is concerned.

Bush supporters/Republicans are morons or braindead or both. You can spot them in the crowd, they''re always using the term "Lib".

Minimum wage is for the 2 million losers that can''t get a job earning more. Even Mc Donald%u2019s understands the law of supply and demand thus they pay more than the required minimum already. An increase to the minimum wage only adds to the cost of living for the other 298 million living here. If only the politicians and bleeding heart liberals would have taken the time in college to take an economics course as an elective to their strenuous degree programs in political science and underwater basket weaving we would not be in the economic mess we are in today.

Congress is a problem that is true. I wouldn''t blame it on one political party or another; they''re all defunct and prone to abuses by their nature. With an approval rating in the single digits, it''s hard to believe how Congress can justify a pay increase. Through various corruptive processes, our elected leaders have become an oligarchy of sorts. The lobby in this country is immense, and often not acting in our interests. Term limits, line item veto, campaign reform, and banning the lobby. This is how true change will come; this is one house in America that needs good cleaning.

Can someone explain how people stay at minimum wage level (unskilled) after years on the job? Doesn''t anyone try to promote or advance their skillbase?
