%u201CThe real truth of the matter is, as you and I know, that a financial element in the larger centers has owned the government of the U.S. ever since the days of Andrew Jackson. History depicts Andrew Jackson as the last truly honorable and incorruptible American president.%u201D

- Believe me when any of you face disaster, you will want the government to help. Are you jealous? Wait your turn, disaster can strike at any time.
P.S. Fannie and Freddie have to be baled out, end of story, or else we fold.

Disaster has already struck!!!! Guess who pays for the Fannie and Freddie bail out? You and me!!! I am sick and tired of footing the bill for losers who can''t manage their lives, and want the government to bail them out every time they fall on their A$$!! - Reply to this comment
- If the house was foreclosed because someone could not afford it and the govt buys it, then puts more money into it, then how can they expect to sell it without finding yet another even more over-extended buyer? This is propping up and delaying the inevitable price collapse. The problem is that real estate is far too expensive for the people paying for it.
And what if interest rates rise as they likely will to control inflation from high fuel prices. Never has inflationary threats been met with low interest rates.
We are busy creating another economic problem. - Reply to this comment

It really makes me ill that we have NO personal accountability anymore ..
My family PAYS our bills .. we make 100K + a year and do NOT live beyond our means ... but we have to pay for other ignorant fools who cant seem to manage thier finances ...
The congressional idiots who passed this should be forced to pay it back themselves .. with thier own retirement ...
SICKENING !!! - Reply to this comment
- Havn''t ya all noticed, this country is run by the House and Senate, which doesn''t have a brain between them. You''ve noticed Bush gets shot down constantly by the House and Senate. If you look at the number of Representatives and Senators who broke the laws of our counry. You have to wonder who elected them, we did. We''re loaded down with a bunch of turkeys.

Gee, I live in New Orleans. When The Government helped the victims of Katrina, many in the rest of the nation complained "why give them money ...they should move" But when California homes burn or slide into the ocean or Missouri homes are flooded or victims of 9/11 need money those victims want government help too.
My point is the government should pay for the loss of homes caused by their negligence to victims of their disaster.

- This vote will trigger the super hyper-inflation that will cause all of the countries around the world to de-cupple the so called "dollar".
This of course will cut us off from our 70% dependecy on imports.
It''s over folks, Hank the Snake Paulson knows this.
So say your goodbyes to friends and family because we are at the doorstep of a new Dark Age where we will dine on cats and dogs, use the restroom outside and not have potable drinking water.

- thank you congress! Thank you so much! I''m a homeowner who bought a house this year in Feb. Not only do i NOT get that $7500 FREE TAX CREDIT (that is cash-money right there.. ) for supporting the economy, but i also pay my mortgage on-time, every month... and what will i get for my trouble? ZILCH.
Yay me!
I also made over 100K last year... so i got ZIPPITY DO DAH for the "stimulus package"... basically, i''m paying for OTHERS to get cold, hard cash even though i paid a BOATLOAD in taxes. - Reply to this comment
That is so rich, the Republicans are against baling out freddie and fannie as well as anyone losing their home.
Freddie and fannie are a financial bedrock of this country.
Failure to bale them out is like torching the whole house of cards.
The homeowners are in comparison a drop in the bucket.
We need another Republican who is tied to the sway of his party like we need another George W. Bush.- Reply to this comment

I like how they slipped that in.

Respect for what???
Respect is something that you EARN, and that you have to re-earn every single day of your life. It isn''t something that people simply "owe you" automatically, you know.
Bush has done absolutely nothing to earn our respect, and that''s entirely his own fault - he''ll just have to live with that fact.
We owe him nothing whatsoever - most especially not our "respect". - Reply to this comment
- Yeah, its being spearheaded by Congressman Dennis Kucinich. Ohh my, President Bush is in trouble now! You dont want to tangle with the likes of Dennis Kucinich, boy genius...
