- Most truck drivers are conscientious and trained.
Those few who aren''t, and that speed, drive recklessly, rear end and kill innocent people should be physically removed from their cabs and turned into an example to other truck drivers of what not to do when driving our highways.
Hang them from the highway overpass with a big sign stating that their recklessness killed innocent people. Some truckers might get the message. - Reply to this comment
- Out of context it looks serious, IN context of the MILLIONS of truck-miles driven every year, there WILL BE a certain number of accidents no matter what.
Just like assembling 50,000 people at a ballgame stadium you WILL have several heart attacks, several falls and maybe even some deaths.
You put tens of thousands of trucks and drivers on the road for millions of miles, you WILL have drivers who die from a heart attack behind the wheel, fall asleep or have accidents, that''s a fact. - Reply to this comment

Once you get on the LA side it is flat as a tabletop all the way to the Ouachita River. (I lived in Monroe La for a while) - Reply to this comment

- 5300 people died in 2006 due to large commercial crashes.
How many died due to an idiot doing 90 in a 50?
How many died when someone that can''t see past the front bumper ran them down?
How many people die every year due to medical mistakes?
Makes me wonder what they are trying to distract us from with this garbage. - Reply to this comment
- When being considered for a driving job, the "reputable" trucking firm you are applying at has a form that is sent with your permission and signature releasing your driving history to them from your state. If you will not provide that form, no job, if your record is not clean, no job. All Reputable trucking firms send you to "their" Doctor for the physical exam. You don''t pass, no job. The Supervisor will take you out in their equipment with a trailer, you don''t pass his test, no job. I could go on but you get my point. Reputable trucking firms don''t let "BUMS" work for them.
On the other hand.
What some 4 wheelers do out there makes my hair stand up, and I promise you this. I have no intention of swerving to miss you, kill someone else, while you go on your merry way. So far I have been able to slow or stop and avoid you. I prey I can continue to do so. Please give the big rigs some courtesy and respect. Your life and those in you car depends on it. - Reply to this comment
- Here in Louisiana, several years ago, I think in the
90''s, an EMS dispatch responding to an accident on
the I-10 in Baton Rouge, was struck by an 18 wheeler
resulting in a horrific vehicle fire, it seems that
the truck driver''s explanation was something along the
lines of " I think I had fallen asleep.." I was watching the news as a woman EMT was describing the
HELL that she went through, months in the burn unit
endless surgeries, skin grafts and related, crying
as she explained that the truck driver was gainfully
employed as a truck driver in a neighboring state
two or three weeks after the terrible catastrophe he
had caused. - Reply to this comment

They ought to have to try to stop one when a 4wheeler cuts it off. (Kinda weird looking at your Van through the Cabs windshield) - Reply to this comment
