The TERM "Caucasian" originated as one of the racial categories recognized by 19th century craniology and is derived from the region of the Caucasus mountains. The concept of the Caucasian race was first coined by 18th century anthropologist Christoph Meiners, but it was first widely popularized under the name "Varietas Caucasia" by the German scientist and classical anthropologist, Johann Friedrich Blumenbach who "borrowed the name Caucasian" from Meiners. Blumenbach based the classification of the Caucasian race primarily on skull features, which Blumenbach claimed were optimized by the Caucasian peoples, particularly a single skull from the Caucauses which resembled German skulls. It was from this similarity that he conjectured Europeans having arisen in the Caucauses. So my opinion is he is a chauvinistic hypocrite! I hope rots in jail and burns in hell. In islam, nikkah (wedding vows) is not valid unless the women agrees to the marriage, and that is her choice and divine right, this is clearly written in the Quran. Stupid moron probably never read the Quran. There is no honor in killing!!!!!

Are you on drugs? Rashid is a muslim/arabic name, Kanwal is a Hindu and Pakistani name. Until 1948, both Hindus and Pakistanis were the same people who each practiced different religions--but race wise they were the same. If you do not know the origin of names (like the fact that Rashid is an Arabic/Muslim name) then stf up. We don''t need any other stupid posters who miss the point.

I went on Cnn.com and noticed the police report for sandeela kanwal (the victim girl) and I just saw that the Rashid''s(murderer) wive''s name is listed as Gina Rashid, her race is different than the girl. Diatreme, your comments lead me to believe that you don''t know much about Islam...only what is fed to you with a spoon via the media. Islam does not condone violence against women...in fact it is quite the opposite. The prophet Muhammaed (pbuh) forbade infanticide of female infants when Islam was first introduced into arabia...as killing female infants was a matter of course in those days. Unfortunately, what this man has done in killing his own daughter is reminescent of those pre-islamic pagan days. Islam says that women cannot be forced into marriage...and any marriage that is forced is not a valid Islamic marriage...i bet you didn''t know that. An entire chapter of the Qu''ran (Muslim holy book) is devoted to women (al-nisa, the women). It details the rights of women, etc. Women are given a special status in Islam and are honored. Mothers are to be respected, wives are to taken care of and loved and daughters are to be protected. A father, in Islam, is given the distinct honor of being a protector/guardian of his children....as children are given to their parents as a trust to them from God. - claytonantho, Please explain to me how a language (Urdu) spoken by 60 to 80 Million native speakers in the world is "some remote language". Urdu is named as one of the top ten most influential languages in the world today. Just because you have not heard of it, does not mean it is a remote language. It just goes to show your ignorance...that''s all. By the way, the article said that Urdu was his native language...not that he couldn''t speak English at all. There are plenty of people that can speak English and have a different native language...it''s called being bilingual. As far as his crime goes, it is an atrocity. Unfortunately, violence against women occurs everywhere and crosses all cultures. It is not distinctive to one region or people.
