Comments on: After Gun Ban Ruling, D.C. Seeks New Rules
As Residents Head To Gun Shops, Officials Scramble To Draft New Regulations
- All jokes and associated garbage aside. I am alive today because I own a gun. I would rather not elaborate other than to say that I now carry a gun every day and yes I know how to use it. I have become an avid shooter. I am licenced in most states and I try to avoid places that don%u2019t allow me to carry. I know I will not convince the honorable mayor of DC, Sen. Feinstein or others. They won%u2019t convince me either. I know I%u2019m paranoid, that%u2019s another word for survivor, and I%u2019m alive.

- I''ve been held up twice at gunpoint. The quicker you realize the other person has your life in their hands the better.

- i think the governing body in DC shold just out law any and all bullets either self loaded or purchased then the gun lobbist would be happy they could sell quad 50''s but banning the ownership of ammo. is not covered by the constitution it just speaks of bearing arms and fails to mention ammo of any kind. so the council could ban ammo and the citizens with such could be arrested on the spot. - I sincerely hope they do not re-enact some sort of gun ban in DC. It could destroy my illegal gun business.

- I find kindrex remarks to be amusing. My wife and I went to the range this morning. She handled her new .357 quite well. She usually carries a .45 as does my 5''0" daughter. It%u2019s tough to be macho in my family. I have to try harder than most men.

- Sorry mayor Fenty, 73% of the American people think you%u2019re wrong. The majority of the Supreme Court agrees with us. Have you even considered that you and Sen. Obama have listened to Sarah Brady and Sen. Feinstein a little too long? By the proposed DC regulations a Henry, 1860 lever action, Civil War rifle qualifies as a machine gun. Mayor, you already looked foolish for wasting taxpayer money on this. now you''re looking dumb. Go find something else to do.

- People are supposed to live their lives in fear. Thats not a free society. Thats an oppressed society. Thats a dictatorship.

I fear people exactly like you; the crazies who might at any moment walk into a store I am in and start shooting. So what kind of society are YOU making?
That is why I carry a concealed weapon. I hope I never have to use it, but will gladly dispatch a crazy person who is attacking me or others around me. That scenario doesnt happen often, but you read about it happening in Texas occasionally.
One thing is for sure...If you want to do a crime, DONT COME TO TEXAS. You never know WHO has a gun!!!! - Reply to this comment
- My mother has carried a gun pretty much her entire adult lifetime. Twice she had to show it to men who thought she would be an easy target. Fortunatly she never had to pull the trigger.
That is two crimes that never got started and one life not spoiled. It amuses me when adult men get on here and say what a woman with a gun can''t do.
Yet millions of them are out and about, quietly doing it every day. - Reply to this comment
- * I have had a few run ins with cranky seniors and had I had a pistol within arms length, well needless to say I would have won that argument over who was first in line at the grocery checkout!!! *

- I am well aware of those court cases, that is why I put that out there. Any reasonable, thinking person should know and understand that. But, there are way too many people out there who don''t, and when their hour of need come''s-They will find out the hard way they may be S.O.L.. It''s like that old saying that i just can''t remember at the moment... An ounce of prevention ____ -_______ _____.

- Incidentally, the government police have no legal mandate to ''protect'' you from crime - nor do they bear any responsibility for failing to ''protect'' you. This has been stated in several court cases.
Relying upon the police to protect you and your family from harm is a fool''s game. - Reply to this comment
- To Sid STUPID...Id be willing to bet you would be the first one to be on the news crying, when something happens to you or a family member of yours-wondering who to sue-because nobody came to protect you and your family. Crying because somebody else wasn''t there to protect you-because you just werent brave enough to do it. I be willing to bet you either live in a nice safe area and haven''t really seen anything bad in life, except for what is on the national news channels and what you read online, OR you may have seen a few things and just think you are invisible and untouchable-one of those it will never happen to me or anybody I know people. I think that you are the only one with a false sense of security, because you are the type that thinks that it is everyone else''s responsibility to keep you safe. It is the people who you say has the false sense of security that really know that you are responsible for yourself and that no one is going to take care of you -but you. Even the police will tell you its not their job to keep you as an individual safe. They are there for the PUBLIC''s safety...
