Actually, I think its impossible to show that 1 1=2, an English mathematician tried to do that in a proof that took 10 years and 1000s of pages of calculations, but in the end he made an ''assumption'' that itself couldn''t be proved. This allowed another mathematician to prove that such proofs always relied on some underlying assumption (like the assumption that parallel lines never intersect: they DO in noneuclidian geometry).

- Providence_J said: "Burning California? Is this the state that just recently allowed that sodomite thing?" Theres an extended drought in the American West, due to Global Warming, that I think is just going to get worse. Look at the water levels in Lake Powell on the Colorado River: its at 50% of capacity and would take 15 years to fill, which scientists now feel will never happen. Rapid desertification of the West means fires will be burning all over the West, as forest ecosystems contract and desert ecosystems expand. Its just nature reacting to Global Warming. But, it does mean you''ll have a lot of opportunities to post your bvllsh*t in the next 30 years! Good times...eh?

- Strong Winds Hamper Calif. Fire Efforts? We have fires, floods, tornadoes, crime and a bad economy, gas prices food prices no jobs losing of homes? Sounds a bit like Pharaoh saying no to God when Moses told him about the Lord?
Maybe, if we wanted a healthier better America we should turn to God to heal our land? Just think? It happened another time in the annuals of history? Yeah God was going to destroy this place called Nineveh and the people repented and God spared them. We could do this in America? - Reply to this comment

Don''t bother ubrew... these folks, like the Talliban of Afghanistan, replaces all science and other crucial subjects of learning... with their theology teachings.
Thus, even explaining/showing them that 1+1=2 is impossible... especially if their god says it''s 3! - Reply to this comment

So what does this have to do with ***? They''re all across the world. Hasn''t California been experiencing wild fires for years? Southeast gets hurricanes, midwest tornadoes, and so on. It''s the weather. We can''t live without it and we can''t make it go away. - Reply to this comment

Its also possible that these woods haven''t burned in 100 years, as the article says, and they are tinder dry, due to an extended drought that I think is related to Global Warming. God helps those that help themselves. Your talk encourages us not to deal with the ''proximate causes'' of these events, like fire management and Global Warming, and instead wonder about ''distal causes'' like gay marriage and lack of school prayer. Frankly, to most normal people, those are ''distal causes'' indeed. - Reply to this comment

- Everything you listed, except for the weather events, is controlled by humans and the decisions they make. God doesn''''t have any effect on the economy. Humans create their own problems. As far as weather, it happens, always has, always will.

Nothing could be further from the truth,God is in control of all. He blesses the nations that trust and obey, and sends calamities for those who reject and curse him.Only a fool thinks he is master of his life. - Reply to this comment
- To all you self righteous bible thumpers,
First real Christians are not critics of others they love unconditionally --

None is more of the real christian than Christ himself,he labeled the pharisees "a brood of vipers", he chased the swindlers out of the temple, told his diciples to wipe the dust off their sandals of the towns that would not hear the gospel.Christs message was "repent"and follow me,or face the consequences. There is no such thing as unconditional love for unrepentant sinners, His salvation is for all that will trust and obey, not for those that refuse him. - Reply to this comment
- Maybe because of all these calamities, flooding, fires, unemployment, food prices, economy, foreclosed homes, tornadoes etc God is telling America something?

- Does a Nation answer to God?
GEORGE MASON
The father of the bill of rights. Says,
As nations cannot be rewarded or punished in the next world, so they must be in this, by an inevitable chain of causes & effects, providence punishes national sins by national calamities.
God will deal with a nation here and now - Reply to this comment
